Born: c. 1859 at Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Maiden name: Elizabeth Smyth.
Married: John Beggs on 25 May 1877 at Ekenhead Parish, Belfast, Northern
Ireland.
Died: 26 July 1917 at 70 Newport St of cardiac arrest, age 58.
Parents: Samuel Smyth.
Son: Robert
Beggs.

- Samuel. Born 21 March 1878, baptised 29 May 1878 at
Ekenhead Parish. Occupation: Commercial clerk at age of
23 in the 1901 census.
- William. Born 9 October 1879 at 77 Riga
St, baptised 30 November 1879 at Ekenhead Parish.
Probably died as an infant.
- William. Born 8 October 1881, baptised 8 February 1882
at Ekenhead Parish. Occupation: Mill mechanic at age of
19 in the 1901 census.
- John. Born 8 Dec 1883 at 16 Derg St, Belfast. Not
located with family in 1901 census.
- Lizzie (daughter). Born 21 Jan 1886 at 16
Derg St.
- Joseph. Born 21 Jan 1887 at 16 Derg St. Occupation:
Office boy at age of 13 in the 1901 census.
- Robert. Born 11 March 1890 at 16 Derg St.
- All children born in Belfast.
- In 1911 census only four of the seven
children were mentioned as still being alive. This meams
that either Samuel or Joseph died between 1901 &
1911.
- Was listed as a dressmaker living at 115
McClure St in 1877 Belfast street directory.

Parents: William Beggs and Anne (?) (this connection is possible but not proved).

shortly after last child born as marriages of four of the
children found at Ekenhead parish church.

Maiden name: Jane Woodside.

Died: 14 April 1894, of bronchitis, at 1 Danube Street, Belfast.
Death reported by daughter in law, Mary Anne Beggs (wife of
Robert). Age reported as 94 at death, although this is probably
excessive.
Son: John Beggs.
- Administration of the estate of Jane
Beggs, widow, of 1 Danube Street who died at same place
14 April 1894, was granted to Robert Beggs of 1 Danube
St, builder, the son. Effects £6.8s.4d.

26. Samuel Smyth
Born: c. 1818-1819.
Occupation: Coach-smith / blacksmith.
Died: 29 July 1877 at 139 McClure St, Belfast, age 58 years
(widower at death).
Daughter: Elizabeth Beggs.
- Samuel lived at 8 Rochford Place, Belfast
in 1865, and 14 Old Lodge Rd in 1870. Suspect he died
shortly after. Elizabeth probably had a sister Sarah
Smyth as this lady helped her when her son Joseph was
born.
- An Agnes Smyth was a witness on the
marriage of daughter Elizabeth in 1877,
this may be another daughter of Samuel.
- a John Smyth married Eliza Cairns about
1866 (children's baptisms recorded from 1867 at Ekenhead)
not confirmed yet as brother of Elizabeth, but appears
probable. Children: Margaret Smyth - bap 14 July 1867 at
Ekenhead.
