Adelaide, South Australia.

Emigration records on Skiold list as Schrap.
- The family was naturalised as New Zealand citizens on 1
January 1844 in Germany before departure of the Skiold on
21 April 1844 arriving on 1 September 1844.
- The German emigrants on the Skiold were part of a scheme
promoted by Count Ranzau who was a wealthy nobleman in
the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg. When they arrived in New
Zealand the scheme had collapsed. When New Zealand
Company's plans fell into disarray, the group departed
Nelson on the brigantine 'SISTERS' 20th November 1844
arriving at Hobart 7th December 1844. After an enforced
stay, in Hobart a charity collection was made, and this
paid the fare for a group of 10 families to go to Port
Adelaide. The group left aboard the brigantine 'PALMYRA'
sailing via Portland to take on water and provisions,
arriving at Port Adelaide 17th January 1845

Tanunda" (in the Barossa valley).
- Was naturalised as a South Australian
citizen on the 20 March 1851 (in the name of Heinrich
Schripp, quoted as a farmer, age 42, from Mecklenburg,

Born 26 May 1811 (baptised 28 May) at Welzin,
Damshagen Parish, Mecklenburg, Germany. Godmother was Sophia
Maria Magdalena Paschen shoemaker's daughter in Grevesmühlen.
Maiden name: Sophia Paschen.
Emigrated from Rankendorff, Mecklenburg, Germany in 1844, on the
Skiold from Hamburg to Nelson, New Zealand. Later left for
Adelaide, South Australia.
Married: Heinrich
Schraep.
Died: 13 April 1871 at Kadina, South Australia of
"corrohosis of the liver".

Bishop YOUNG on 24 November 1862 at the private house of
Mr De Gavis in Wallaroo, South Australia. James died at
Kadina, South Australia on 7 February 1867.

Buckinghamshire, England and died in 1908 at Menindie,
New South Wales, Australia. Occupation: Labourer / Cook.
Benjamin died on 22 March 1908 at Pamamaroo, near
Menindie (listed as William Benjamin RICH, labourer, old
age pensioner male, 84 yrs)

(i) Florence. Born 31 December 1866 at Kadina. Died 1962.
(Florence's birth certificate lists her mother as
Elise formerly Webb, Webb being a phonetic corruption of
Schrap by the informant.) She married John Lewis
McLaughlan CAMERON on 8 April 1886 at Wentworth, New
South Wales, Australia.
ii) William Henry. Born: 6 Aug 1868, Near Riverton, Gil,
South Australia. Married Elizabeth A McKAY (born c. 1858)
at Broken Hill, New South 1906 (no children). Elizabeth
died 2 July 1928.
iii) Benjamin. Born: 24 May 1872 at Caroona, Burra, South
Australia. Died: 17 July 1923, at Chapple St, Near Murton
St, North Broken Hill. Occupation: Farmer and owner of
the Roseborough Hotel at Wilcannia.. Had several children
to Annie Irene CONNOLLY c. 1895 (daughter of James and
Mary Helen CONNALLY, born. on 1 February 1873, at
Kingston, South Australia and died on 26 November 1936 at
Broken Hill, New South Wales).
iv) Violet (1877-1907). Born 27th February 1877 at
Wentworth, New South Wales, Australia. Died 1907,
Menindie, New South Wales, Australia.
- Sophie. c.1843 in Mecklenburg, Germany. Married William
WHEATLEY 1862. A child Emily WHEATLEY was born to them on
20 Dec 1863 at Booyoolee. William died on 8 June 1875 at
Kooringa (age 37 years, usual residence Adelaide). Sophia
remarried William STEPHENS on 22 April 1878 at St Mary
Church, The Burra.

In 1801 Jochem Hartwig Schreep was an
"Altficker" = cobbler
In 1803 he was a "Schulmeister" = school
teacher ( possibly the pastor made a mistake?)
In 1805, 1809 and 1810 he was a "Nachtwächter"
= night watchman.
In 1816, the eldest daughter Catharina
Margaretha Schreep was confirmed in Rankendorf, and her
father is still a night watchman.
In 1826, on daughter Katherine's marriage, was a
"worker" of Weltzin.
In 1834 & 1836 on marriage of remaining daughters,
was a "sub-tenant" of Weltzin.
- On death certificate from Damshagen in
1843 listed as "Hartwig Schraep worker of
Rankendorf." Allegedly 84 years old. Damshagen is a
parish to the east of Kalkhorst.

Johann Gottlieb DANKERT, worker of Weltzin, married
Katharine Margarethe Dorothee Shraep, whose father was
Joachim Hartwig Schraep, worker of Weltzin (at Damshagen
parish). In 1825 Johann Jochim Danckert was a labourer
employed by the miller in Grossen Voigtshagen.

Otto HASSELFELDT, farm-hand in Damshagen, married Anna
Marie Schraep in Damshagen, whose father was Joachim
Hartwig Schraep, sub-tenant in Weltzin (at Damshagen
parish).

year, in 1819 (at age of 10 years). On 19 October 1836
Johann Detlov MEYER, farm-hand, hereafter worker in
Parin, married Margarethe Elisabeth Schraep, maiden,
servant at the Parin estate. Her father is Joachim
Hartwig Schraep, sub-tenant in
Weltzin (at Damshagen parish).
