Redwall is the first Redwall book I read, and I would never had read that book, if it weren’t for my teacher who asked me to, so I did, and I loved it, it was awesome. Redwall is about about mice in an abbey who are being attacked by a horde of evil rats, lead by Cluny the Scourge, the rats were larger and more fierce than the mice. But, if the young mouse Matthias can recover the magical sword of Martin the Warrior, the famous Redwall leader, he can help defeat the horde of rats. Matthias's search leads him from an Abbey roof top, sparrow nest, to an evil serpentine lair of Asmodeus Poisonteeth.

Pearls of Lutra is about Grath Longfletch, an otter who's holt, Holt Lutra, has been destroyed by corsairs just for some pearls for Emperor Ublaz Mad Eyes, the emperor of the island of Sampetra. The pearls somehow got to Redwall and Ublaz found out, so he sent a crew of rats and lizards to get the pearls.The corsairs take two prisoners to try to ransom for the pearls, which the Abbey dwellers had not located yet, so the corsairs took their prisoners back to Sampetra. Abbot Bernard and Viola Bankvole were on the ship back when a full scale mutiny broke out. In an odd turn of events, when Abbot Bernard was taken out of their cargo hold to see after Viola, he helped to aide Viola's rescue by the vengeance hungry Grath Longfletch. Martin, son of Mattimeo and Tess Churchmouse, went out with a small crew to get the Abbot back. Now, at Sampetra the corsairs, led by Rasconza the fox, have started to revolt.
