The History of Martin's Sword

As Told by Pawflash the Squirrel

Martin's sword had been in his family for untold generations, and so it was tradition for Luke to pass the sword onto Martin before he set out on his fateful adventrue to rid the world of Vilu Daskar.
Martin was wandering far from his tribe's cave one day when his grandmother and guardian, Windred spotted him from afar. Windred and Martin were soon set upon by slavers of Badrang the Tyrant's army, despite his effort, Martin and Windred were chained and sent to Badrang. Along the way, Winifred died, she was too old to travel so far, but Martin was a survivor.
At Marshank, Martin's sword was given to Badrang, who used the sword until Martin reclaimed it after successfully leading an army against Badrang at Marshank.
After reclaiming his sword, the young and fierce mouse headed south, where in winter he reached Mossflower Woods, an area of turmoil, under the rule of Verdauga Greeneyes, or more likely controlled by his daughter Tsarmina, as the old wildcat was too sick to rule the land anymore himself.
After fighting some members of the Greeneye army, Martin was captured and sent to see the royal family. Gingivere, Verdauga's good-hearted son, wanted to have mercy on the mouse, and his father was with him. However, Martin had angered Tsarmina, and she snapped his sword in a fury. Tsarmina finally she got her way and the mouse was imprisoned in Kotir's dungeons, to wear the broken sword around his neck as a symbol, but he was soon forgotten. Soon after, Tsarmina poisoned her father, framed her brother, and took total controll of Mossflower.
Martin later escaped from Kotir's prison with help from Gonff and met up with the Corim. With urging from Bella of Brockhall, Martin and some new friends set off for Salamandastron to bring Boar the Fighter back to liberate Mossflower.
At Salamandastron, Boar fashioned a new blade for the sword, made out of a fallen star. The sword was one of the greatest weapons ever forged, from it's original hilt and pommelstone to the new and fantastic blade. However, Boar could not return to Mossflower.
After returning to Mossflower and liberating it from the wildcat's harsh rule, Martin helped plan and build Redwall Abbey. After it's construction he went on few more adventures, later hanging up his sword. He instructed Krar Woodwatcher, a noble bird and friend from his last journey, to place the sword in a secret location, where only a true warrior could find it.
Long after Martin's death, Simeon the blind herbalist somehow retrieves the sword, giving it to Dandin while he slept in Mariel of Redwall. Dandin then used the sword to aid Mariel against Gabool. Upon Dandin's return to Redwall, Rufe Brush places the sword on the weathervane at the top of the abbey roof.
In Salamandastron, lightning strikes the abbey, and the sword falls, inches from the squirrel Samkin. The abbeybeasts then searched through past abbey recrods to find out how the blade came from the sky.
Finally, Brother Hal discovers how the blade had been placed on the weathervane and that the lightning must have sent it loose. However, just after his discovery, Dingeye and Thura, two vermin who had escaped from Ferahgo the Assasin and had taken refuge in the safety of the abbey and the caring beasts inside, killed Brother Hal in a freak accident.
Seeing the blade, and knowing they could not explain the accident to the abbeybeasts, Dingeye and Thura flee the abbey with Martin's Sword.
Dingeye and Thura are soon caught by Deathbrush, a fox sent by Ferahgo to slay the two defectors. After doing his job, Deathbrush takes the sword, to give it to Ferahgo later as a gift.
Samkin and Arula the mole folow Dingeye and Thura's trail, and later follow Deathbrush to retrieve the sword. Just as Samkin reclaims the sword from Deathbrush while floating in a boat on the great inland lake, Samkin is forced to stab it into the Deepcoiler to save his life from the giant waterbeast.
The body of the Deepcoiler soon ends up the shore of the island in the center of the lake. Mara the runaway badger maiden retrieves the sword, and later returns it to Samkin, who then uses it to aid Mara and many others against Ferahgo at Salamandastron.
After Ferahgo is defeated, Samkin returns the sword to the abbey, and back to the weathervane on the abbey roof.
Prior to Redwall, Martin's sword is taken from the abbey roof by sparra King Bloodfeather. The sword is wielded by the sparra king for a few generations, before King Bull Sparra loses it to the mighty serpent Asmodeus.
In Redwall, Matthias searches all over the abbey, following a trail of clues to the abbey weathervane. When the sword is not there, Matthias hears from an injured sparra that Bull Sparra has a mighty sword. Matthias then follows the injured sparra, named Warbeak to the abbey's attic, where the sparras live.
Matthias lives as King Bull Sparra's captive for days,. Warbeak's mother, Dunwing explains to Matthias that Bull Sparra lost the sword to the adder Asmodeus. Later, with the help of Warbeak Dunwing, Matthias finds Martin's scabbard in King Bull Sparra's loft, and leaves the attic. Matthias ends up killing King Bull Sparra in his escape, and barely survives the fall from such a height.
Matthias soon heads off to meet Captain Snow the owl, on a hint from Basil that the old owl may know the location of Asmodeus. Matthias goes to the supposed location of Captain Snow, but instead finds the marmalade cat Squire Julian Gingivere, who leads him to Snow, who tells him Asmodeus' location.
In a triumphant moment, Matthias finds Martin's Sword, but is soon forced to use it to slay the poisonous adder. Matthias then uses the sword to defeat Cluny the Scourge.
Matthias became the abbey warrior, and later his son Mattimeo took the position, and the sword. Mattimeo then passed on the position and sword to his son, know as Martin the Second. After Martin the Second died, presumably with no son of his own, Arven the squirrel becomes the first non-mouse official abbey warrior in The Long Patrol.
After Arven becomes Abbot and there is no need for a warrior, the sword is kept by the blind badger mother, Cregga. Cregga keeps the sword until the Marlfoxes come and steal the tapestry of Martin the Warrior.
Dannflor Reguba takes Martin's Sword, and uses it many times to retrieve the tapestry from the island of the Marlfoxes.

Since the passing of Dannflor as Abbey Champion, the sword was moved, this time perched above the tapestry on two spikes in Taggerung. There the sword remained for the entire story until Deyna, the Taggerung, retrieved it from the spikes on his way out the doors to fight Gruven and the others. Deyna slays several vermin before chasing away the rest, including Gruven. After his recovery, it is likely to assume that Deyna, as the new Abbey Champion kept possession of the sword.
Untold seasons had passed since the Taggerung had passed away, and the sword once again hung above the tapestry, waiting for a worthy warrior to claim it. This warrior was to be none other than Triss the squirrelmaiden, the first heroine to ever wield Martin's sword as her weapon. With the sword at her side, Triss easily defeats the evil princess Kurda and later uses the sword to free the slaves at Riftguard from the Pure Ferrets' repressive regime.
This is the history of Martin's sword as far as I know, look for this page to possibly be updated after I read future Redwall books.
