Hi there! Boy I know how it is when you're just starting to design a page, so that's why I decided to include this brief tutorial. I will cover the basics, but if you need extra help, don't hesitate to email me and I will do my best to get your questions answered.

So ... roll up your sleeves ... take a deep breath .... and let's make a page!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOTE: Replace all ( ) with < >
1. All Pages Begin With The Following:
    (html) (head) (title) Title Of Your Page Here: This Is Viewed At The Top Of The   Browser.(/title) (/head)
     *Remember to always use "(/)" to close all commands*
2. Setting The Background, Text, Link, etc.
    (background src="Name of graphic.jpg or .gif" text="#rgb or hex code" link="#rgb or hex code" vlink="#rgb or hex code")  YOU DO NOT CLOSE THIS COMMAND
3. Setting The Content Of Your Site:
    This is where you put the main text content of your page. There are a few things to know when doing this:
      a. If you want to center your text on the page use: (center) then when finished close it out with (/center).
      b. In between sentences and paragraphs use: (br). This will 'break' the line to start a new one.
      c. If you want a bold text use: (b) type the text then close (/b).
      d. If you want text that moves across the page and repeats automatically use:
          (marquee) type the text - should keep short & simple then close (/marquee).
4. To Place Images On Your Page:
     Type: (img src="name of graphic.jpg or .gif") You Do Not Close This Command. Again, you can also "center" them by using the above code.
    It's also a good idea to specify the size of the image and include an alternative message for people that have their graphics turned off. Use this code:
       (img src="name of graphic.jpg or .gif" height="??" width="??" alt="Graphic by ???")
5. Placing Links On Your Page:
       a. Let's say you want to see my awards. You type this code:
          (a href="http://geocities.datacellar.net/bartlingangel/Awards1.html") My Awards (/a)
          The words following your code is what your visitors see. See my table of contents on the left.
       b. Now, let's say you want to link a 'home' button. Here's What To Do:
          (a href="http://geocities.datacellar.net/bartlingangel/index.html")(img src="name of graphic.jpg or .gif" height="??" width="??" alt="Home")(/a)
       c. Now, people need to know how to email you. Here's What To Do:
          (a href="mailto:your_name@your_company.com") Email Me (/a)
6. Finished?? Okay, Let's Close Out The Page:
   (/body) (/html)
See, that wasn't so bad was it??? Again, if you're stuck or don't quite understand something, contact me and I'll do my best to steer you in the right direction.
Editors Note: The easiest way to learn is: if you see a basic page (one without frames, tables, etc.) ... at the top of your browser click 'View' - scroll down to 'Source'. A separate window will pop up with the code. This is how I learned.
Learning how to do this takes time & lots of patience. When I first began, my pages looked horrible (in my opinion) ... but I kept at it. I'm still learning things all the time. Anyone that has been visiting me for any length of time can assure you of that because I change my page look around all the time *S* Just don't give up ... practice makes perfect!
Good Luck!
Kim
