"The Big Brother"



A Brief Background: Gren is the older brother of Iria and easily the galaxy’s best bounty hunter. He is only in two episodes of Iria: Zeiram, but it could be said that the entire animation is indirectly about him. For most of the time, Iria is trying to find out what happened to her brother after the Karma explosion.

Gren is also good friends with Bob, the two of them seem to go off on bounty jobs a lot. But, like all good things, Gren’s good fortune came to an end when he faced off against Zeiram and suffered a fate worse than death. He was assimilated by the creature, Gren was forced to watch Zeiram kill thousands.

Eventually, Iria showed up and with his last remaining strength, Gren forced her to kill him. On that black day, the galaxy witnessed the death of a true hero.

The Yeti’s Thoughts: Gren is the older sibling I think everybody wants, he’s kind, understanding, and everybody knows better then to mess with him. A good example to attribute to Gren was his decision to take the Karma job even though he wasn’t being paid. He knew that innocent people were in trouble and he couldn’t turn his back on them.

He tries to help Iria out in every possible way, even when he’s assimilated by Zeiram. Gren forces Iria to kill him so she can go after Zeiram with a clear head. He is a noble spirit in every sense of the word.

Useless Trivia: According to Fujikuro, Gren and Iria aren't biologically brother and sister.
