"The Protagonist"



A Brief Background: Iria is the main character and is featured in all six episodes of the Iria: Zeiram OAV. She is Gren’s younger sister and apprentice, and has always looked up to him for support. Iria, along with her brother, are bounty hunters and extremely skilled. Unfortunately, one day while on a job, Gren is ‘killed’ by a deadly creature that goes by the name of Zeiram. Iria barely escapes with her life.

Throughout all six episodes, Iria becomes obsessed with avenging her brother’s death and hunts down Zeiram. After numerous conflicts, she finally learns that Gren was not killed, but assimilated. Iria is forced to kill her brother in order to save him. She then faces the focus of all her problems, Zeiram, and kills the beast.

Admist all of this killing and revenge, Iria has to deal with the turmoil and emtional conflict that her vendetta against Zeiram creates. As if that wasn't enough, she's also the target of the power-hungry Tedan Tippedai Corporation who want to silence her for their own interests. Iria must accept help from old friends and old enemies if she is to survive.

The Yeti’s Thoughts: The thing I like best about Iria is that she isn’t a typical anime female stereotype. She isn’t some bubblehead who couldn’t tell the difference between their head and a hole in the ground. She also isn’t some annoying little whiner who overreacts to the slightest problem.

Iria is tough as nails and brave almost to a fault. She doesn’t take trash from anyone, no matter how powerful they are. Despite this, she’s also a deep thinker who reflects upon her life and learns from past mistakes.

Really, only one word can accurately describe Iria. Perfect.
