Tina and Tobey Raccoon
Before we continue, it needs to known that Tina and Tobey were found in a State and USDA licensed pet store having been bred at a USDA licensed breeding facility. The pet store was closed down by the state just days after we brought them home. Their health was so deplorable it was our wish to bring them to our home to pass with dignity rather than die in a filthy cage. Our wonderful Vets, Dr. Ralph Pope and Dr. Pierce White, helped us partially regain their health. Tobey suffers mental disparity due to months of early malnourishment and lack of stimulation. Tina has had four major surgeries to repair internal damage done during the same months of confinement, malnourishment and lack of exercise.  Their partial recovery took well over a year.Tina and Tobey have never known the confinements of a cage while in our care, and never will. Their inside "bedroom" is 10' x 12', set up for their pleasure and a 184 sq foot outside deck with a small swimming pool accessed from our living room and plans for a new 400 sq foot outside gazebo connected to their bedroom to which they will have constant access.

Tina and Tobey have constant access to either the inside or outside thu the 11" wide by 14" tall "tunnel" that goes from their "bedroom"
(inside the house) out to their 400 sq ft Gazebo.  We have "Doggy Doors" on each end of the tunnel to keep insects and weather out.
Most of the furniture in our dining room has been sold and it is now referred to as the T's playroom. Tina and Tobey have been in our home since 1997 and have adjusted to our lifestyle as we have to theirs. Collectively we spend between 4 to 5 hours a day interacting with them at their discretion. We have neither vacationed nor left them unattended overnight since their arrival. We have also made legal provisions for their well being in the event of our demise.  This is the only way we know how to compensate them for what Man has taken from them.......
Now ! on to MUCH MORE IMPORTANT things US !
"Not a clue how it happened, but we found ourselves in an "exotic" pet store in a really dirty 2' by 3' snake cage. Best we can remember, we'd been there about three months or more. Not much to eat and we didn't have any room to move around so all we did was sleep and try to get through each day. Poor Tobey, he pretty much gave up because he was so sad from being dirty and hungry all the time but I just kept telling him that we had to hang on because someone was coming to get us and make it all better real soon."
"In a heartbeat we were out of there.  Days later the State came and shut the place down."     Tina Raccoon This web site is dedicated to all animals that have suffered Walk Softly On The Mother Earth
by the hand
of man...........
Tina and Tobey are NOT considered pets. They share our home with us and have complete run of the house. They have their own bedroom and the door to their room is closed only after they go to sleep as a safety precaution. They are destructive but it was our decision to revolve our lives around them and co-exist as family.
Sadly we lost Tina in the Spring of 2003 to Diabetes.  We believe we did and gave all we could to make her life as happy and comfortable
as possible.  Medically, it would have been cruel to try to prolong her life, this decision was made after consult with her wonderful Vets and careful consideration.  Tina rests under the Oak Tree planted to shade their Gazebo.  Tobey grieved almost to the point of his demise but after a visit from his best friend Tina's  Heavenly Spirit,  he regained his will to live.  We just celebrated Tobey Raccoon's 11th Birthday on April 1st, 2008.  Tobey remains alert, active and enjoys good health.
