A Child
A chid is a joy,
Even when he is not.
He absorbs lessons in life,
Even ones you wish you hadn't taught.
Sure, he cries and sometimes you feel frustration set in,
But you always remember the joy, the love, the laughter in his eyes.
Each child is special - a gift from the skies.
Every time you see the innocent face,
You remember the pride you felt every time a new accomplishment was made.
Every child is special,
So treat him with care.
He is so very fragile, but so strong at the same time.
You wish you could protect this gift forever,
But, you must let him spread his wings to fly.
Sometimes, he will choose the wrong path,
But rest assured, he will always be back.
When he falls, you pick him up,
You brush away the tears, give him comfort, and try to show the extent of your love.
To lose a child would be a horrible twist of fate,
But always remember , you are a richer person to have had the love.
If you are one of the lucky ones,
Hold on tight - not neccessarily to the body, but to the love you feel for each other.
Never forget the indescribable love you felt,
The first time you held your child and told him you love him -
The day he was born.
