Nature's Song
I see the leaves on the ground.
They are picked up by the wind,
As if they are dancing,
Whirling, swirling, twirling to a tune
Only they can hear.
The trees are like the conductor,
Their limbs moving back and forth
And all around.
Then, I hear a bird chime in-
Just every once in a while,
To keep up the rhythm of this unheard song.
All of a sudden, everything is calm and quiet.
Just as suddenly, it all begins again.
It's as if another song has begun.
Off in the distance, I begin to hear the music,
The thunder from an oncoming storm provides the bass.
Slowly, the birds stop singing as the rain beins to fall.
All of a sudden, I hear a crack of lightning,
And another clap of thunder.
The leaves become too wet to dance.
The trees are now conducting a new orchestra.
The pitter-patter of the rain plays a tune on tin roofs.
Finally, the wind, rain, thunder, and lightning die down.
It's time for their song to be heard somewhere else.
For now, the music is over,
Until next time when the wind decides to play again.
Now I've heard nature's song.
