That Long Ago Night
I hear the rain pounding on the windows.
The steady rhythm of the raindrops
Is hypnotic.
It takes me back to another time, another place.
That night, the storm wasn't only outside,
It was in our hearts, too.
We fought over little things -
I can't even remember what.
That same night, our world together fell apart.
As I remember, a stray tear falls.
It's not that I want you back,
The memory just still hurts when it's so vivid, that's all.
It has been two years since that fateful night.
I have moved on, and have a new life.
Just sometimes, when the rain falls just right,
I remember the events of that long ago night.
