I tried to include all phonetic spellings of Shaffer,
names that could have been transcripted incorrectly but
resemble Shaffer (in all spellings).
The counties and townships are listed since I made photo
copies of the Census Index books at the Fort Wayne, Allen
County Public Library.
I am relatively new to genealogy and didn't think to put
the name of the book and pertinent information on the pages.
If someone wants to review my work and verify it, they only
have to go to the pages in the worksheets of the data I sent.
It should be right.
When you are able to open the file you will see the letter
"C" after some of the dates, this indicates the actual census data.
If the letters "CI" follow the date, the data was collected from
a Census Index and I've not had time to collect the census data.
Even with the CI's available to the people, it should give them
an opportunity to, at least, verify that "a name resembling their
name in question" was in that county, township, date.
In all honesty, I would like to be able to present all the Census
data on the web for the Shaffer researchers.
Respectfully,
Kay
