Ariosto is a red classic tabby male out of the second breeding of CFA GRC Avicats Sophrosina Marfisa, DM and CFA GRC, GRP Stormwatch's Tatsumaki. His color is very, very deep red, and he has a nice shaggy coat with a huge, full tail. We love his head with its good profile, deep, square chin and tall, high-set, heavily-tipped ears. He is also a very large and solid boy. Ariosto did extremely well in shows both as a kitten and in the adult class. At just eight months old he defeated more than 200 other champions, giving him the title of CFA Grand Champion. We are very proud of him. Although Ariosto is reserved with strangers, he is very affectionate with familiar people- a true lap-cat. He has a very sweet and laid-back personality, and gets along well with our other pets, including our dog. He also "begs", like his mom and dad, a quirky trait we love and that the judges and spectators find amusing. Ariosto was also shown once at a TICA show, where he became a TICA Champion, as well as winning best of breed and second best cat in show from judge Beth Hicks.
We are a bit sad to announce that we have retired Ariosto, even though we know this was the best thing for him. We only had one girl we could have bred with him, but they had no interest in one another(!). If we had kept him whole, it would have been at least another year without any girls, and he would have been very frustrated! Unlike his fearless brother Orlando, Ariosto would have been quite stressed by a visit to another cattery to breed, so we decided it would be the best thing for him to move him only once- to a permanent pet home. It is a shame as he has developed wonderfully- over 20 pounds at one year, and never losing his color or his full coat and tail, and his ears are still right up tight on his head... but he loves being a couch potato and getting lots of petting- his favorite! He is now living with members of the same family who adopted two of our other retirees- Nick and Todi.
We showed Ariosto's littermate brother CFA GRC RW Avicats Orlando Furioso and sister CFA GRC Avicats Phaethusa Stria, who were both very successful in CFA as well. Ariosto's other full siblings include CFA GRC Avicats Arethusa, CFA GRC Avicats Publius Ovidius Naso, CFA GRC Avicats Versace of Coonoquan, CFA GRC Avicats Nuvoletta of Stormwatch, and FIFe EC Avicats Astraea Escapes, DM.
