SitcomsAlice - Based on the Play "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore." Took place in at Mel's Diner in Phoenix, Arizona. There were 3 basic periods of the Alice show. There was the Flo period, Belle period, and Jolene period. It seemed they always had trouble keeping waitresses and would always hire someone to take the place of Flo's original character. I liked Flo the best. Cosby Show - one of the first all black prime time shows. It was pretty funny, especially the first few episodes. However I never really enjoyed it. Diff'rent Strokes - why is this show not on anymore? Could it be because the childhood actors turned out terrible? Todd Bridges, who played Willis on the show was convicted of drug charges. Dana Plato who played Kimberly appeared in Playboy. What about Gary Coleman (Arnold)? The last time I saw him was as a cameo appearance in Saturday Night Live. This show featured Mr. Dummond who took in the sons of his late housekeeper. This show was imitated by Webster - which was never very funny. Facts of Life - this appealled more to teenaged girls....my sister loved it. It featured Natalie, Tootie, Joe, and Blair and Mrs. Garrett. Family Ties - who could forget the show that made Michael J. Fox a star? This was a great show that examined some tough issues, but promoted the importance of families. Happy Days - Trend setting show. Kept Ron Howard's career going while he still had hair. The Fonz ruled the show. Personally I never watch much of it though. The band, Weezer made their Buddy Holly video in what looked like the Happy Days episode (with some great computer modifications). The Jeffersons - The story of George Jefferson, his wife Weazie (sp?), and their maid Florence. George had become rich through his dry cleaning business. Featured the first prime time mixed couple (Willis') Laverne and Shirley - an outrageous comedy that took place in the 50's. Appealled to everyone but mostly to women. The show was never the same after Shirley left. Why was it still called "Laverne and Shirley" after Shirley left? Mork and Mindy - it's the sitcom that gave Robin Williams his start in media Mr. Belvedere - comedy about an English butler and his American family. Originally aired on ABC. Night Court - this show was absolutely hilarious! The characters weren't all that funny. It was just the situation they were in that made it funny. One Day at a Time - I never thought this show was all that funny. Seemed like just a bunch of women sitting around talking. Perfect Strangers...would you believe Erkel spun off from this? Silver Spoons - Starred Ricky Shroeder as a rich kid who had everything he wanted except a mother. Sorta boring at times. But the train that they rode on was cool. Small Wonder - story of a family and their daughter who is really a robot. Originally in syndication. Wonder
Years one of my personal all time favorite
shows. This was a story told of growing up in the 70's through the
eyes of a teenager, Kevin Arnold.
