Brethren,

Your Lodge has been busy, our annual Ladies Appreciation Luncheon was held on July 27, a wonderful meal was served and everyone that attended had a great time. As in the past, the lodge gave out two awards during this luncheon, WB Norman “Sonny” Gay was recognized as our Mason of the Year and Ms. Donna Owenby received the Asa C.Godowns EMS Professional of the Year award. WP Laurence Laughlin worked very hard on this luncheon and deserves high praise from all for dedication.

The recommended By-Law changes have been forwarded to our Grand Master and are awaiting his approval, a committee has been formed to research the possibility of adding an elevator or chair lift to our lodge in hopes that those brothers that require that assistance might be able to attend lodge. Investigation committees have been formed for two recent petitions. I ask all of the brothers to keep our Past Grand Master, MW Bro RV Pinkston in their thoughts and prayers, he is still recovering from his knee surgery and was in good spirits when I last spoke with him. We miss him and look forward to seeing him back in lodge.

I would also like to remind all of the brothers of the Outdoor degree scheduled for October 19th. If you have not been to a meeting in a while, try to come out and join the fellowship, and if you come out every month, think you and I look forward to seeing you again. BRING A BROTHER TO LODGE.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS!

The changes that we requested have been approved by the Grand Master, the most important one being the start time for our regular communications, the time changes from 8:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Because the change takes effect immediately I am hoping to get the word out by every means available.

Our Lodge sponsored a blood drive on 1 October, 2002 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Lodge. Sign-ups for appointments were available, and walk-in's are both encouraged and welcome.

We are doing it through the Florida-Georgia Blood Alliance. The great part about this organization is that the donated blood stays in the Beaufort area, so there is a direct, positive impact on our local community. Additionally, when donors that represent a minimum of 25% of the Lodge's membership donate blood within a 12 month period, every member of the Lodge (Regardless of weather he donated blood), and his tax-dependant family members, will be eligible to receive a 20% reimbursement on the cost of processing blood for one year regardless of their insurance benefits. If we can get a minimum of a 40% representation of the Lodge's membership to donate during a 12 month period, this same benefit is extended to the non-tax dependant family members.
