The plot:
15 years after a dreadful accident who broke their short love-story, Ted Stroehmann (Ben Stiller) decides to hire a private detective to find his ex-school-girlfriend, Mary (Cameron Diaz). But Mary is so sweet that the detective (Matt Dillon) falls in love with her too, as well as at least 3 other men. After a series of comical accidents and misunderstandings, the most sincere one will finally be accepted by Mary.
My comments:
There's Something About Mary is probably one of the funniest American comedies of the last few years. The Farrelly Brothers who until then had only done classical comedies (Dumb & Dumber, Kingpin) have really created something new with this movie. At once, they don't fear to shock people with really unexpected and dirty scenes. Of course some people might be really shocked by these scenes but no-one can help laughing during the whole movie. The movie might be a little bit too dirty, but that's what we're paying for!! :) What's more the actors are all terribly good and you can even feel a sort of sweetness behind all the fun and action. I'd finally say that this movie must really be seen and once you'll have seen it, you'll never watch hairspray and trousers flies in the same way as before!! =)
