But what is far less nice is that Truman is constantly watched by millions of televiewers and has been since the day of his birth. Without even realising it, Truman has spent his life surrounded by cameras and actors. Fortunately after a series of accidents, Truman begins to realise there's something weird. He tries to get away from the town to rejoin his long-time love, Sylvia, who's been fired of the show after an attempt to tell Truman the truth about his life. But how can Truman get away from this island while he's terrified by water and observed by thousands of cameras? Will Christof, the show's creator, let him go away?......... I refuse to answer to these questions!! It would really be unfair to spoil the pleasure by telling more about the story so all you have to do is to go and see it NOW !!! My comments: First, I found this movie very original. Of course the theme of the unaware prisonner is not really new but Peter Weir managed to do something really new with this movie. The movie plays on its exagaration but finally what really stucks the viewer is the movie's reality and the cynism of the tv-show's producers. Even if it seems exagarated, in fact nothing is really impossible to do and it really makes us wonder about the problems of television... Jim Carrey is really playing well in this movie. He manages to makes us laugh but moreover to make us identify to him which changes a lot from the usual characters he used to play. My mark: (mark= 3,75 / 4) |
