I realize that these are a BUNCH of weeks to clump together in one update, but I didn't have much of a choice, since I don't keep a handwritten journal of my pregnancy...it's just kept here in this little niche online!
I can't really complain too much about this pregnancy. I haven't been having all of the Braxton-Hicks that I had with Cameron...as a matter of fact, they just started around week 30, and I pretty much only get them at night. Right now as we speak (in week 32), I haven't gotten any in the past few nights. This could be because I am making sure I am drinking a lot more fluids, and really trying to push my intake of water.
We finally agreed on a name for the baby! I had my husband promise me that he'd be sure of the name he wanted for this baby by my birthday, and that time has come and gone! So the baby's name is....
Courtney!
I am very happy with this name...I had to convince the hubby of it at first, but it grew on him. Also, we thought it was the perfect name to go with Cameron! Now I feel like I can bond with the baby more since she has a name of her own!
I did get sick for the first time this pregnancy, just recently, too. Cameron caught a cold, and was more than happy to pass it on to Mommy and Daddy! HAHA It's not his fault, though...I'd rather be sick than have my baby suffer! Of all days to get sick, too, I got sick on my birthday! For me, the first day is always the worst, and I didn't even take any medication until about 5pm. I had no idea what I could take, besides Tylenol, so I called my OB's office and asked. He told me I could take Sudafed, Dimetapp, or Robitussin (among a few others), so I opted for the tried-and-true Robitussin. I'm not sure it's working all that well, but I feel a heck of a lot better today than I did yesterday! I'm glad I have an OB appointment tomorrow...this way, I can ask my OB how many days I can take the medicine for and still have it be safe for Courtney.
My major complaint for the past few months is back pain. My back is almost constantly hurting me, and it takes me just hours to fall asleep at night. Sometimes, I'll be laying down (on my side, of course!) and I'll feel Courtney kicking me in my hips...almost like she is swimming in there or something! I never had the sensation of Cameron being in my hips, so this is totally new to me! She hasn't found a spot to lay in that really hurts yet, and I'm hoping she won't! I remember that with my pregnancy with Cameron, he would always dig his feet underneath the right side of my ribs, and it just hurt like heck! I can definitely tell, however, that she is quickly running out of room inside me. Sometimes I have difficulty breathing, too...which I think is partly to blame on the position my daughter chooses to lay in!
I have begun to notice a few more stretch marks recently. I only see two, and they are right above my bellybutton, so hopefully they'll "sink" back in with my bellybutton after the delivery! Fat chance, right?! Oh yes...and I have also started retaining lots of water once again. BUMMER!! My feet are usually swollen by the end of the day, and my ankles will get so puffy that you can barely see the bones that stick out of them! I really hope I don't swell as badly as last time, but I fear that I will, because not only am I pregnant in the summertime, in a hotter state than North Carolina, but also because I have started swelling a full month earlier than I did with Cameron!
That's about it for the past couple of months. Hopefully my next update will not be riddled with pregnancy complaints...I truly am hoping for smoother sailing this time around! I'm not unrealistic, though...I know that I am just entering the really miserable part of pregnancy. Still, I am trying to keep my head up and enjoy it, in case we don't have any more kids after this.
