I took the dreaded GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) today. Fun fun! It actually wasn't all that bad, although I had to drink a lot more than I did last time around. I had to drink a small bottle of this orange soda flavored stuff, but as it is, I don't drink very much at all, so I had to force it all down within 5 minutes. I had indigestion and heartburn shortly after I finished the bottle...yuck!! The bloodtest wasn't bad at all...luckily, the nurses there are really good at finding my vein quick and almost painlessly! The nurse checked my iron level, too, and it was 34, which is a little bit low, unfortunately. I don't have to go on iron just yet, but may have to by my next appointment if it drops any more.
Blood pressure was once again great! It was only 90/54. With my last pregnancy, by this time my b/p was already starting to rise. The nurses were very impressed that it was still so low! I gained 4.5 pounds, which is about average, but secretly, I hoped I had only gained a pound or so! Oh well. I measured between 25 and 26 cm...which is normal for me, because I always
measured small with Cameron. Heartrate was great...nice and steady...sounded slow to me, but the OB said it was just perfect!
I asked my OB about those stabbing pains in my cervix, and he said, "Lots of women complain about that...it's just a pregnancy thing, we don't really know what causes that." I'm not sure how much I believe that, because I have read that the pains are usually caused my dilation of the cervix or by a part of the baby's body pressing down on your cervix...but whatever...as long as it's nothing to worry about! Oh, and he checked to see if she was head down, and he thinks she was, but couldn't be positive...I guess her head's still too soft!
That's it for this appointment!! Keep your fingers crossed that I don't gain too much weight by my next appointment, which is only 3 weeks away!!
**On an added note**
I called the OB 2 days after my appointment to get the results of my glucose test, and the nurse said I passed!! YAY! No gestational diabetes for me!
