Chief Rusty Merritt is the Executive Officer of Station Sandy Hook and a qualified Narcotic detector K-9 handler. Chief and Buddy are also Nationally certified as well as New Jersey state certified.
Buddy is a 1 and a half year old German shepherd/ husky mix with tons of energy and a incredible desire for his tennis ball. Buddy didn't like the towel when Chief first started to train him. Chiefs dog wasn't interested in something that doesn't move much when it hits the ground, but the ball drives Buddy nuts. He will do anything to get that reward, so Chief gives it to him, and Buddy will knock down people to get it. Buddy was the third dog to arrive at the K-9 unit and because of the departchure of the first two handlers, Chief and Buddy are the senior team.
