General Description:
The overall build
is referred to as a "cobby" body type which is large-boned and stocky.
The head is large and round with a broad skull. The forehead is round
with good doming and no knots or bumps. The teeth must have a perfect
bite with perfect tooth occlusion. The eyes are large, round and
set wide apart. Deeper eye color is preferred and should conform
to the color of the coat of the cat. Generally, solids, tabbies,
and bicolors should have deep copper eyes, with a few exceptions (solid
whites can have blue eyes or be odd-eyed). The ears are small, round-tipped
and set very wide apart and low on the head, with long ear tuffs.
The neck should be short and wide. The nose should be short and broad
with a definite break or stop. The legs should be short, thick, and
strong. The back should be straight. The paws should be very
large and round with nice toe tuffs. The tail should be short in
porportion to the rest of the body and should be carried without a curve.
The cat should have a very long, full ruff or frill over the shoulders
and chest. The coat should be dense, very long, and have silky
texture. The cat should be in excellent health, have excellent
body condition, and a sweet disposition or temperment.
Penalties and/or
disqualifications:
The Persian is penalized
for having a kinked or abnormal tail, crooked or off-center nose or mouth,
overshot or undershot jaw and bite deformity, a long nose, large pointed
ears. closely set ears, narrow chest, long body, long legs, thin neck,
small eyes, eyes set closely together, or pale eye color. See the
particular organization's show standards. These may vary between
CFA, TICA, and ACFA, etc.
Some disqualifications
include: Kinked or abnormal tail, incorrent number of toes, spine
deformity, skull deformity, asymmetrical face and/or head, and crossed
