NOTE:
Mousekateers cattery does not sell cats that are allowed to go outside.
All cats are tested leukemia negative. We do not vaccinate for leukemia,
rabies, or the controversial FIP vaccine.
The rabies and feline
leukemia virus vaccines can cause a kind of tumor called a sarcoma developing
at the vaccine site several weeks, months, or years following the vaccination.
Researchers think that this is related to the inflammation that these vaccines
cause at the injection sites. Whether you should have your cat vaccinated
for these diseases will depend on your cat's risk of exposure to these
diseases. Some states require a Rabies vaccine by law. Discuss
your cat's vaccine strategy with your veterinarian to decide what's right
for you and your cat.
I do not recommend
using the FIP vaccine. This vaccine is too new, and with a closed
cattery, I see no need to subject my cats to it.
