.... The continuing saga that has become known as Family News is here again. This is somewhat of a mini-series covering past/present/recent events in and around the house. This is one page of several others that "getting better as we go" keeps you up to speed of events around here. The idea that this may appear as a monthly thing is false. It is written when the weather keeps me indoors or when the notion strikes me. Remember this is not only for those far away but for those of us who have a moments to spend during the day when reading is much better. Take a moment to write and let us know events unfolding at your end.
For all you folks at home, want to know when a new page to the saga is added? Goto the feedback page and let the machine know by clicking on the little box/button and push submit. Don't think for a minute you will get an immediate reply, I write this as the notion peaks and it's by no means monthly. Make your mark here.

Karin's world 20020901 - It's back to school once again!
The student is ready for another season of college. Be prepared to be managed one day very soon.

Sherri's world 20020901 - It's a new car! It's a new job! Actually a 1991 Corsica in better than average condition. If we can imagine for a second that it costs less to replace the car than fix it, this is what happened. Ian at Southgate Automotive (a good shop they tell me) would not take her money to fix the car, he knew it would be better to replace it. Very refreshing to experience this kind of honesty. The new job is at a busy flooring retailer operating the phones and office duties. We are still in-the-loop at the Bay some evenings and weekends. (The Bay)

Carolyn's world 20020901 - With somewhat of a relief knowing both girls have good jobs (one still in college as well), good cars, good circle of friends this adds to and complements a certain level of comfort. Seasonal visits to the cardiologist / Electrophysiologist / professor of medicine / [what ever else he does] has prompted a "heart scan." What exactly they found is not completely known, Doc Bob has little faith in the accuracy of these tests. What he does know is she will require an angiogram. OK kids, I'm not going to go into lots of details what an angiogram is however I will say it is a relatively non-evasive method to open a blocked vessel by various methods. These methods usually involve a very long catheter that she is not looking forward to partly because it takes a long while to recover from the entrance wound. Really how bad is that? Imagine going for heart surgery and the worst thing about it is the wound that is about an inch long! More as news unfolds... Looking toward fall & indian summer. Last time I spoke of the deck that needed replacement, done. The executive decided a brick / paving stone method was the way to go keeping paint and sanding a distant memory.
There are fewer priorities than fine health. (SAIT)

Don's world The brain storming continues... 20020901 - Was that a hot summer or what? I have not been able to write for being busy wiping my brow. They say it was the worst drought in recent recorded history, not that you could tell from looking around the big city. The City was somewhat anal about water which I still don't understand who screwed up or what piece was to blame. There was MORE than enough water, spring run-off water just the same and plenty of it. What was different this year from any other, who knows? And then, they picked July to ration water, this my friends was the peak of river flow! I'm still zen with sudo this and ls that with a fsck thrown in.
20020902 - It seems the schmucks at Apple have decided to eliminate iTools access as a free thing for the masses. This will mean moving certain site images to a safer place from all the fees that they want to keep the service. I don't like it and I suspect not many others like it either. I imagine it is a ploy to generate a flow of dollars from potential clients. All things are dollar propelled in this type of thing, right. If you can get by without the perk of .mac then life is good. For future reference at the end of September 2002 the mac.com reference to anything here on the site will be useless. I am not going to become a victim. I have a light bill, a gas bill, a phone bill, a tax bill, a food bill, a visa bill, a water bill, a sewer bill, a garbage bill, and I do not want a Mac bill. 20020901 - Technology Gloat of the Month: iClock. Perhaps you've seen one of these in the Mac related ads. Even if you are not a Mac geek they are very useful and an excellent calendar. A radio too!

The House Since the demise of Sherri's car I removed the battery and restored the charging system of ol'Red. With use of other tools (not limited to hammers) I have it moving again, brakes and tires are next if I can spare the cash. I think my old photo restoration project may take a back seat to getting Tomato road worthy. A second set of wheels is nice in the winter but ol'Red's heater will then require service, oh dear, now what to do? We are waiting and standing by to solve another house (reno) emergency. (D2M) The above URL points to the old AGT server which I am going to squeeze some space into it.
To be continued...
