....Once again News that is Family News This is somewhat of a mini-series covering past/present/recent events in and around the house for a ninth time.
This page of several others and "getting better as we go" keeps you up to speed of events around here. Rather than go and edit each and every edition, following are links to step back or jog forward. If this is the most recent the NEXT will not be available. To go back in time to Family News Previous & Family News Next, it's like reading old newspapers (it's news to me).
Something New: Here for your entertainment is a page of early McLellan history in pictures. Details are there.
©1999 D2M, I'm sure images and certain proprietary items are here somewhere, they remain at all times property / registered to the respective owners, you know who you are.
Karin's world
990730 - Full time student, part time Hair officer. Karin is signed up and into the fall session of Mount Royal college yet defending the right to suitably correct hair. The hair shop will let her work when school is out and although this will make a mess of her social time she will likely need the distraction. But in the name of higher learning and gas in the car it is one of those things that are important for the moment.

990809 - Whoa, I am now reminded and fully understand once again the meaning of higher education. It's the higher price of education and the highest price of books! What a scam. I have been told of stories where the instructor has authored a book and yet insists the student purchase it only to have it for the most part ignored in class. I can understand reference material but hey, lets refer to it.

990825 - Almost $500 in books! And for this it is 3 or so actual real hard cover text books.

Sherri's world
990730 - Snap-on Tools has a new employee. As reported last time the "Nothing even comes close" company is treating her well. The drive or bus ride is a little further than she would like but I think it is a good company to stay with for a while. She will likely enjoy this job in the long run, much better than Eaton's. Eaton's is still in the picture on weekends and this keeps her in employee discounts et al.

990806 - The saga of the time honoured transportation issue is solved once again. Read below for the story of how the major portion was solved and take a guess how Sherri's dilemma was solved. Yes, Sherri is now the owner of an older blue Taurus and may I say a sigh of relief has been expressed.

990826 - As you may know Eaton's is toast but the sale of all that remains is left up to those employee's that wish to remain. She was instructed that perhaps a severance bonus might be paid if she toughs out the last few remaining hours (read days, or weeks).

Carolyn's world
990730 - It's been how many months since she has been "kicked up a notch" and still doing very well. Slowly she is becoming accustomed to the new device. Any concerns about it's sensitivity to store "tuned" theft detectors is needless worry.

Getting back into the main stream of things is slowly happening. Although driving to and fro during the heat of the day has it's moments. The increased traffic can't be doing much good for her nerves either. We all get disturbed about the traffic but she has not been in it for some time now and may take a while to become brave once again.

990801 - It's just about that time when Mrs. is getting sick and tired of the old car. You can stall these things (not the car) but it comes a time when the need becomes necessary to buy a newer one. We have taken a few for a spin and I think she is ready to take the plunge. Give me strength.

990808 - After almost a week of near bliss the Mrs. has new car aroma in her veins. What can I say, take a look below at a near identical specimen (think and see red with grey interior instead) and you will have it.

A hush comes over the crowd and then suddenly, Come on down, It's a new car!!! The sweat on her brow is not from the energy spent running from salesmen it's from writing and signing her name on countless documents confirming her purchase. The image below is a 1999 Taurus, although she has the ($700 more expensive when new) 1998 Taurus SE the immediate differences are not noticeable. Tell me what difference can $700 do for you on a new car between 2 of the same model, the SE or LX? They still get you somewhere.

From every appointment like self locking doors to A/C and fold down rear seat backs she is in near bliss. Between you and me she will stand at the window and look at it. Actually I am right beside her doing the same thing. :)
I like the rock solid handling and the spunk under the hood. It's a well over due & welcome change.

Don's world
990730 - To keep peace around here I do not speak about the crap in the garage. 'Nuf said about that.

I seem to be working more than ever, evenings and weekends as well. The "office" has made more shallow reorganizations that puts me back to where I came. Not that this is bad but the work is Transmission by day and Data by night, hard to stock enough to get by. I have to stop answering the phone.

990809 - I know what you maybe thinking about the new car but I have a different point of view. The reduced stress with the therapy that goes with everybody having their own means of transportation and the effect that it has on Mrs. in her healing state is far & wide worth the financial pain. Speaking of financial pain, avoid the Royal Bank, they will damage any opinions you may have had about the banks being slightly good or working in your best favour. My advise for the day, shop around and look at EVERY offer. Take the stance they are looking for YOUR business, not them simply lending you money. They are all thieves until you find the right (or better in your favour) thief. If it was up to the people at the bank I'm sure business with them would be much better, chuck the rules and go with the traditional method. Funny how very different they all are.

The House
The fan keeps us cool...
990730 - Whew, was that warm or what! We have had a couple of days of summer and it was warm, but as the weather goes it will be cool for the weekend. Nothing new there, eh? Perhaps I should put the umbrellas away and hide the hammock. They say it's not recursive to make it rain by washing the car but it seems that way.
990809 - Well, if washing the new car has any theory to prove, it's false. The weather should be a raging blizzard by now. Stay tuned, you never know if there will be any paint left on the car.

The space & almost the month has run out so for other news clique Mail-News & more photo's when they are available.

To be continued...
