....Once again News that is Family News Here is the page of past/present/recent events in and around the house for a third time.
Karin 990228 - As always Karin is in the tradition of being busy with job(s) and soccer with her friends et al. School and job are going well. It is a blessing the day and night school are spaced out enough that she can get in a few hours to maintain her mad money & keep her car in gas.

Sherri 990228 - Sherri is getting her allergies in check. Well at least she is looking into a possible cure and some relief. For the last year or so she has had a rough time of it. 990301 - Today she has found out from her Ear, Nose & Throat guy that he has a plan. April 1 is hospital beak adjustment day. For some of us who dislike the idea of surgery inside your head and then hundreds of miles of gauze stuffed in there, this is it. She is not that happy (duh) about it but the resulting relief will be more than welcome.

Carolyn 990228 - Near the end of March she will be under the care of Doc Marty to get to the bottom of the Celiac story (a small stretch and that could be a pun). He has a certain course of therapy he wants to take and I can see this taking some time to solve.
The surgery date for Doc Bob (the rhythm guy) is set for April 12. We don't know if the new ablation machine that was supposed to arrive has or not. But his office has scheduled the date just the same but this is not written in stone.
the story continues....

Don 990222 - A few days ago a good friend gives me an older Mac to fix up and restore to normal. He says the machine is no longer needed but would like to see a few dollars from it. Fair, eh? Excellent, I think. Another idle Mac polished and put back into service to make someone's life better. After a bit of mix and match and OS updating we have another Q605 on the streets. What I did was take it over to Henry & Elsa's to get some use and after a month or two go back and see if the machine was ever turned on. I will still have to pay for it but at the same time the use of the machine is invaluable if it gets used for what they say it might be. It's a great teaching aid and I would like to do this elsewhere. If they don't use it I have a whole list of people who would. The computers for schools are a distant memory and albeit this was good they are far and wide too Wintel set in their ways. It's a shame the poor kids in schools are subjected to Windoz crap, they should be given a fair chance and not a handicap such as this. Buy a kid a Mac! I have to reinforce my argument, several years ago when I would make frequent visits to schools in the city I could not forget how the kids reacted to the school's computers. In the library (typical gathering place for computers) the kids would always be gathered around the few Mac's and not a single kid would be sitting in front of the windoz boxes. Now what does this tell you? Were the windoz boxes not working? No they were fine, it's they are just too clumbsy and difficult to sort all the conflicting methods of use. By the time a project could be done and play time started on a Mac the poor kids are still getting started on the goofy DOS boxes. See for yourself, go to any school where there is both and see how the kids react. They know.

The House 980918 - Things are going just fine with the house and then as Emeril** says, "Bam". The garage door spring lets go and the oven dies then the keyboard on the Big Mac quits. What is the deal here? It used to be I would work a bit of O.T. and then Carolyn would call and ask if the funny smell in the house should be a worry. As it turns out the furnace (or any other appliance for that matter) seems to have the uncanny ability to know when there might be some extra cash comming home. These pesky devices of modern man will at less than a moments notice die. With no hint or clue just give it up and quit. As I touch wood and write this the Mac works, the door goes up and down, and we enjoyed baked Chicken & Ribs tonight. **Emeril Lagasse is the cooking channel guy of "Kicked up" and "Bam" fame. Most of the devices of the house are getting near that difficult age of 20 to 25 years old. The Mac is jealous of the new G3's and the garage wants heat (furnace is there but not working yet). This might explain the failure rate of things around here lately but it also is trying my faith in things mechanical. Lets hope this chapter is over! 990228 - Can you believe the weather! No snow in February! Yes! I have been out with the hose washing the trusty ol' red truck and the graffiti left by some nearly illiterate school kids. After a chemical concoction and a few hours I have a reasonable job well done of erasing their expression. The fools used red paint and very poor hand-writing which makes me wonder if the parents or teachers are really partly at fault. The substandard writing (all capital letters) and the use of a poorly done elliptical shaped border is also an indication of poor education. Not only that but from the height of the message and time of day it was done it must have been someone in grade K-6, from whom did they learn such language. The use of red paint and method employed with some psychological babble could also indicate a less than model future member of society. To be continued... 990301 - Can you believe it, the tub faucet wants to drip now. Anybody have a Large hammer? Like I said above the 20 year cyclic repair curse is upon us.
