Happy Holidays

Wishing you peace & joy throughout the year with health and happiness above all.

....It's that time of year again when the hustle and rush of the season gets us ready for the great anticipation of things to come.

It is never "all for not" as we can remember the times gone by and can better steer the times ahead.
Christmas is here and another new year as well.

It is our fondest hope that your new year brings you joy and true blessings for many years to come.

Last year's Christmas greeting was perhaps a little too sappy so I will take a different approach this year. Ignore what I first thought and write sappy anyway.

The year past has blessed us with too many things to capture here so to keep you up to date a few highlights. This "greeting" brings with it more than just the Hallmark "Happy Holidays" but a more modern and somewhat instant message to those far and wide. Granted the traditional glittery card found in the mailbox is nice but I've hoped to improve on that. One of my simple joys at one time was to receive an actual letter, consider this just that.

The girls are doing well and keeping busy with jobs, friends and such. Around SAIT the air of uncertainty is always there. I say uncertainty because Carolyn's progressive steps to once again become familiar with the office is a gradual climb and before this peaks she is performing minor duties. These duties are regarded as valuable for her adjustment to prepare her for the coming year. Speaking of coming year, are you tired of hearing about this Y2K stuff?

She has been taking SAIT and doctors in her stride. For those not aware she has had two cardiac ablations and the second required a quick third operation to place a VDD style pacemaker. The institute has made great gestures of understanding in her course of healing. They have granted her a prime parking spot from which to visit the office on a every-other-day type of schedule. This may appear to be a soft touch but really it's something that has been a challenge. Some faces are new and yet her old job is still there it would require her full attention which she cannot risk yet. It seems every week she receives an opinion from someone she respects that she is doing remarkably well for the procedures she endured. This reinforces my thoughts she might be rushing into returning to work but on the other hand it is good for mental health and fitness. Time moves very slowly when you are on the mend. As I write the jury is still out on how to proceed, but more therapy is indicated.

Some uncertainty for the phone company is an understatement. Telus management after the merger with BCTel has moved the upper end of the operation decidedly west. This has brought about all kinds of stories and speculation why and "what were they thinking". I have a some ideas what they are doing but these are only guesses. Actually some of these thoughts have been realized recently but in very slow and not very methodical actions. Large companies are slow movers and adapt equally slow.

I have continued good fortune at home, work and such. As written last year the family tree publishing project is stalled from prohibitively expensive software costs. I cannot expect everyone to buy the finest database software so I have to regress and turn to family ancestry software. Flat text files are out. My thinking has shifted slightly to perhaps rent server space and do it up well. Can you say cgi scripts?

This is a snipet of the news from here and of course more detail is available on the regular pages of the site. When time permits updates are usually every other Sunday. You guess which Sundays.

Again from our home to yours, all the very best you can imagine!
Don't be strangers, Carolyn, Don, Sherri, Karin, Cosmo, Luna, et al.

A quick note about this page. To avoid disappointment in the future, do not bookmark this past the current holiday season due to potential changes during the year. Some links and tags may change and I may not edit this page. Remember No style sheets, No frames, No crap and proud of it.
