DOUBLE
RHYTHM
A Double Rhythm unit is composed of two walking or
marching steps on each beat of the unit. The dancer steps on each beat of the unit.
The unit starts with a step on one foot and ends
with a step on the other foot. Thus if a double rhythm unit is followed by another double
rhythm unit, the foot which steps on the first beat of the first unit is the same foot
which steps on e first beat of the second unit. It would simply be alternating
weights from one foot to the other on each beat.

Secondary rhythms of the double
rhythm are the delayed double and the extended double.
A delayed double rhythm unit has two
changes of weight within two beats of music, though the step or the weight change does not
start on count 1. Instead it starts on a beat after count 1.
