Image of the month
It is a known fact that everyone will have a
different opinion on which image is the best.
I am not trying to pick the best image, but picking an image that I personally liked.
I am sure that we will all agree on the fact that this is an excellent image!

Art with a camera! Thats right folks. This is not a painting. This is a straight photograph from a photographer who claims not to be an artist. You could have fooled me! OK, Chris, you may "just try to record what you see", but you do see with the eye of an artist just a little too often to be accidental. |
A Colorado Stream
| I was walking along this stream in the RMNP when I stopped and began watching the water as it tumbled over pebbles, dropped and swirled. The sun would go behind the clouds and then pop out and I watched as the pebbles under the water would appear and disappear with the light. I thought how great it would be to be able to watch this stream anytime I wanted. I had been watching it at least 15 minutes or more when I thought if I could photograph it to look like it does, then I could look at it whenever I wanted. I tried to decide how to photograph it so that the water would be moving, but would have detail of the swirl and froth and all the other texture. A slow shutter speed would show movement but if it were too slow, I would have opaque milk. A fast shutter speed would show texture but if it were too fast it would be frozen and hard. I wanted movement and I wanted the detail of the flow pattern. The 1/8 second shutter speed was calculated to give me this result and I was pleased that it did. ---Chris Varner |
