8.30am Malaysian time, I am so excited that
morning, it's my first time backpack to Cambodia with Kriss and Lisa. We are going to
start our journey from Penang (Malaysia) to Bangkok (Thailand) and finally Angkor Wat
(Cambodia). We took a van from Penang to Hadnyai, then change bus to Bangkok. We bought
the ticket from a tour agent at Chulia Street, it cost RM75 per person. The van leaves for
Hadyai at 8.30am Malaysian Time daily. There's also another van that leaves for Hadyai at
12.30pm. We took the 8.30am van because we want to reach Bangkok early so that we can
catch the 5.55am train to Aranyapratet. It rains all the way from Penang to Hadnyai, it's
good though because the weather is cold. We reach Hadnyai at 1.00pm, but there's no bus
to take us to Bangkok. We have to change to another van to Suratani, according to the van
driver, there will be a bus at Suratani to take us to Bangkok. We begin to feel that the
journey might not go as well as we plan :(
5.30pm we reach
Suratani. The van driver took us to another tour agent. We found out that the bus to
Bangkok will leaves at 7.30pm. We are really frustrated now >:( Kriss was very mad, I
never seen her so angry before. We ended up arguing with the tour agent, cause the bus is
late, and this will effect our schedule. We can't afford to miss the train! After sorting
things out, we found out that the Penang tour agent who gives us the wrong information.
Actually the van that leaves Penang at 8.30am and 12.30pm will need to take the same bus
from Suratani to Bangkok. What a bummer! If we had known it earlier, we can take a local
bus from Hadnyai to Bangkok instead, no need to go through the tour agent.
Meanwhile we take some
time to wander around Suratani town. Ate a bowl of noodle that's similar to Malaysian
"Koay Teow T'ng", it's good.
7.30pm the bus came. We
are so desperate to reach Bangkok early, so we ask the bus driver a favor to drive faster.
However he gives us a mean stare and shut the bus door! Oh no! Not again! He was so mean
to us. We don't have any choice but to apologize to him and he let us in the bus. That
night, he purposely drive very slow like a snail! I just hope we can reach Bangkok at time
to catch the train. Looks like we are going to need a lot of luck for this trip.
We kept our important
belongings secure to ourselves and Zzzzzzz... the whole night.
