7 July 2000 Last Day In Angkor
Today is the last day for us in Angkor, so sad we have to go back so soon. At 5.00am Lisa and I went to Bayon to see the sunrise. Kriss skip this one. It's very dark at Bayon. Nobody was there just the 2 of us and our motorbike driver. I'm too scared to went in the temple cause it's very dark and you can't even see the steps but Lisa went inside. I had stomach ache and went to the toilet alone  in the dark! Pretty scary! I think we are so stupid to be here in the middle of the dark, alone and put ourselves in danger. There's no sunrise  because it's cloudy. There's nothing to see so we went back to the guest house.

Banteay Srei is our next destination. At 9.00am, motorbike driver arrived. Kriss skip this one too and will meet up with us at Preah Khan. Banteay Srei is situated far away from Siem Reap. When we reach the temple there are already many people there. There are food and souvenir stalls. The temple is red and pink in colour. It's a very beautiful temple. It's surrounded by water and the size of the temple is quite small compare to Angkor Wat, but it's well preserved. You can still see the real or original carving on the wall. It's so detail and fine. If you look carefully, you can noticed that the carving is quite different from the rest of the temple. I like this place very much. There are locals playing traditional music.

Next we were on our way to Neak Pean, the lake of the coiling serpent. Neak Pean is not a temple but much more like a bathing pool. In the center of the pool, lays the coiling serpent. During the time of our visit, the pool is not fill with water, so we can walk to the middle of the pool. Opps.... it's started to rain again. We can't continue our journey because of the rain so we have lunch here at the local food stall. I had rice and fried egg for 1500 Real. Later I have a chance to try their hammock. The hammock is their sleeping place, it's very easy to setup and you can bring it anywhere.

The rain stopped. We were off to Preah Khan to meet Kriss there. Preah Khan is famous for the hall of dancers carving. The temple almost collapsed and there were big trees growing on top of the temple which destroyed the temple. Preah Khan is surrounded by a wall with giant Garuda, a mythical creature with human body and birdlike wings, legs and a thick curved beak with bulging eyes. It's lower body is covered with feathers and has the claws of an eagle. There's an information center at the entrance of the temple which provides information on how the conservation was done on this temple and the technique used.

It's time to go back. I think we have visited almost every temple. Before we went back to the guest house, we ask our motorbike driver to cruise around Angkor Thom one more time. This is the best moment for me cruising around the magnificent city of Angkor in the evening. I have accomplished one of my dream 2000! So happy I did it and at the same time feel sad I had to leave tomorrow. However I will come back again.

Our driver dropped us at the market, and it's time to pay them. We had a great time with them too. After having dinner, we went to the souvenir stalls again to do our last shopping. We had a friendly chat with the lady that sold us T-Shirt the first day we were here before we leave. The people here were so friendly and nice. Gosh..! I am going to miss this town.
