A masterpiece--
Michelangelo's David stands as the best piece of art I've ever seen.

Surprising find--The vivid orange and green colors of the Duomo (left) told us we were definitely in a new city.
Florence, Italy--After the different shades of brown in Rome, we were happy to get a wider range of colors in Florence. The famous Duomo is a vivid mixture of orange, green, and white. The sunset from the Versputi Bridge was memorable because of the shades of orange, pink, purple, and red.

There is so much in the compact Florence that anyone can spend a week there. (Usually in line for the museum. Four hours to the Uffizzi!)

Recommendations--You have to get to the museums early in the morning or stand in line for the rest of the day. The Uffizzi is the best for Rennaissance art. It's also the museum where Hannibal Lector is curator in the movie Hannibal. Of course, the four-hour long line of tourists is nowhere to be seen in the film. The statue of David will make anyone fall in love with it. I remember being in awe of a vein in David's arm. It was awesome!!
