Objects are very important on Legends. However, objects and object creation remain some of the most confusing aspects of role-playing on a talker. As a result of the need for guidance, I have established these pages not only to give the residents directions in creating objects, but to also provide a resource and guidelines as to what sorts of things will be appropriate for this time period. Note: Because I wanted to have more flexibility clothing wise, I have been allowing more Renaissance-style clothing.
First, we begin with an overview of what is and is not appropriate and acceptable. Once you have read this page, then I suggest that you continue on to the directions on how to construct objects.
For reference, the average resources level *should* be a 2. Resources 3 is primarily for merchants, knights, and lesser nobles. Resources 4 is for the more important nobles, merchants, and church officials. Resources 5 is RARE. Really only the Doge and the Archbishop should be *this* wealthy.
Oeditors: The people that are in charge of reviewing and approving your objects. Our current team of oeditors is maintained by TeRpSiChoRe and she is assisted by Amano, Walter, and Mortis.
Fabrics: The most common fabrics were wools and heavy cottons. Things such as silks, satins, and velvets should NOT have a Resources level lower than 3. A dress made completely out of silk, for example, should have a Resources level 4. A dress made only partly out of this material, should be a Resources level 3. We are rather flexible as far as fabrics go, but a silken dress should cost not less than Resources 3. If you have any questions, please ask one of the oeditors.
Weapons: Weapon creation is something that you need to consult an ST about because you will most likely need to specific damage and rolls for the item.
Horses: Horses in a city like Venice are rather rare. Horses should cost no less than a 3 in Resources.
Creator-Only Objects: In a time period when everything was made by hand, it is hard to make judgement calls on this issue. Unless the clothing is really something that there is no chance that another person could own it, then it is advised to make clothing available to everyone. This way, we will not have a bunch of objects that are virtually the same. When in doubt, ask an oeditor for his/her opinion.
Proofreading: I cannot stress enough how important it is that you make sure your object is as free from errors (misspellings, typos, etc) as possible. It not only gets your object approved faster, it also makes it easier on the oeditors.
Important!: Please do NOT stick %td or any of the modifiers that end with d in ANY of the macros other than the target macros. This will cause the talker to have problems!
