Adventures of Maelorwen and Magean
Episode 6
Maelorwen was in her room searching frantically for the things she needed to take to the special feast they were having this evening. "I just can't believe that I could have ran out of this stuff!" Maelorwen mumbled to herself.
Just then Princess Aleene wandered into Maelorwen's room.
Princess Aleene loved spending time in Maelorwen and Magean's rooms. She had always wished that she were able to do the magic that they could do. Since there wasn't anyway that she could ever do the magic, she found that the next best thing was to spend all of her free time with the wizard or sorceress of the castle.
"Maelorwen, what has you so frantic today?"
"Oh, Princess, I didn't even hear you come into the room. I'm looking for the tulip honey and tulip juice that I was taking to the feast this evening. I can't seem to find them anywhere. I'm afraid I might have run out of them."
"Would you like me to run down and see if Cook has any in the kitchen?" Princess Aleene asked.
"That would be wonderful, but it wouldn't do any good. You see, This is special, I can only get it from the faeries. Cook wouldn't even know what you were talking about. She'd think you were daft."
"Then what will you do?"
"I don't have time to go down to the Faery Ring to get more, because then I wouldn't be able to finish the bread in time."
"Can't you work some magic and have some appear?"
"Oh dear, no! The best things in life can't be gotten with magic, and this is one of those things."
Princess Aleene's eyes got big as an idea came to her, "If you tell me how to get to the Faery Ring, I could go and get it."
"That is a marvelous idea! Follow the path through the forest until you cross the creek. You should see a huge, old, oak tree to your right as soon as you have crossed the creek. You need to leave the path at the tree and take five hundred steps. There will be a boulder that is obviously out of place after you have taken the five hundred steps. Take ten steps to your left and look behind the maple tree that is in front of you. There you should see a ring of mushrooms with tulips in the middle. That is the Faery Ring," explained Maelorwen.
Princess Aleene was very excited about visiting the Faery Ring, "I'll be back soon!"
"Wait, there is more! Once you get there you must not go inside the ring. You kneel down outside the ring and say the following; 'Faery of the Tulips, I've come to your ring. It is a request from Sorceress Maelorwen that I bring. I've come alone, nobody but me. Please come forth for me to see' Once you've said that the faery should appear. Tell her that I've sent you to fetch some Tulip honey and juice for the usual price. You shouldn't have any trouble."
"What am I to give her?"
"You needn't worry about that, she knows I'll pay her the next time I'm there. Now hurry off with yourself, time is wasting."
Princess Aleene followed the path through the forest just as Maelrowen had instructed. When she saw the huge, old, oak tree she ventured off the path. She carefully counted five hundred steps where she found the boulder. Turning to her right she took ten steps and then looked behind the maple tree. Suddenly, as she saw the Faery Ring, everything became very quiet.
Princess Aleene knelt outside of the ring and recited "Faery of the Tulips, I've come to your ring. It is a request from Sorceress Maelorwen that I bring. I've come alone, nobody but me. Please come forth for me to see."
Princess Aleene anxiously awaited the arrival of the Tulip Faery.
Suddenly the Tulip Faery appeared, "What is it that Maelorwen requests, Princess?"
"She has sent me to fetch some tulip honey and juice."
The faery motions to the princess, "You'll have to come with me."
Princess Aleene watched the Tulip Faery disappear into the Tulips in the middle of the ring of mushrooms. "Now how am I suppose to follow you? I can't even see you any longer!"
The faery appeared again, "I'm sorry I forgot," she waved her wand and suddenly Princess Aleene had become a faery.
"Oh my! I'm a faery! Can I fly also?"
"Yes, but only until you've left the ring with the honey and juice. Once you fly outside the ring with them you'll automatically return to your princess image."
"May I fly around for a few moments before we go to get the honey and juice? This is so much fun!"
"Yes, but only for a few moments. I have quite a bit of work to finish."
Princess Aleene flew back and forth several times over the Faery Ring. "I suppose I'm ready to get the honey and juice, now."
Princess Aleene followed the faery into the ring and down inside the blossom of a tulip. She found that as they travelled down inside the stem of the tulip she got quite sticky. The next thing she knew she was popping out of one of the roots of the tulip and was surrounded by a wonderful, magical faery kingdom.
"Here is the Tulip Honey and the Tulip Juice that Sorceress Maelorwen requested," the Tulip Faery said as she handed Princess Aleene a jar of each.
"These are such tiny jars, should I take more than one of each?" questioned Princess Aleene.
"They won't be so small once you have left the ring with them. Now, fly yourself out of here and give Sorceress Maelorwen my regards!" with that the Tulip Faery disappeared into the kingdom.
Princess Maelorwen was able to find the Tulip root and flew back up through the flower until she burst out of the blossom. She landed with a thud outside of the Faery Ring as she changed from a faery back to a princess.
"What a wonderful adventure I've had!" exclaimed Princess Aleene as she headed back to the castle to give Maelorwen her honey and juice.
