Emogene is her name. Jean was short for that name, I guess.
Jean is eight years old than me. When I was little, she looked
out for me like an old Mother Hen.
I wrote this poem for her birthday, Feb. l988.

JEAN
Sisters are for loving at least thats the way I see
We grew up together, and was happy as could be.
You were there for me when I was just a kid,
I can remember like yesterday all the things you alway did.
You saw that my hair had braids and my dress looked just right,
You always worried about me when I was out of your sight.
When I became a young lady you made sure I understood
All the things that were coming up, you taught me to be good.
We never had an arguement that couldn't be worked out,
We understood each other there was no room for doubt.
Now we're growing older and our hair has turned to gray
Until life is gone from each of us I know good friends we'll stay.
If I can ever help you, I hope you'll come to me
For life is getting way too short for all of us you see.
I have five sisters,and we're different without a doubt,
But there's not one of you, that I could do without.
I hope you know, I love you, this I neglect to say,
Be happy today and always,Jean, and have a Happy Birthday!
