They made their home in Copper City, MI. for several years then moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin. The children completed their high school.Tom married and has one daugher. They reside in St. Paul, Minn. Steven has not decided on a career and is working as a painter.

Charlotte CARROLL was born on 17 Oct 1844 in Ann Arbor, MI.. She died on 8 Nov 1930 in at Dau.Eunice's near Hastings, MI.. She was buried in Coman Cemetery Yankee Springs, MI.. Charlotte Carroll Still was the daughter of Zephaniah Carroll, who was
born in England (rumor has it that he was a younger son of an Earl and
his brother who inherited, put him in the navy.) He was a sailor on the
ship that brought Charlotte Forward, with her mother and sisters, to
America. When he returned to England at 21 years of age, he found his
brother had sold the property and Zephaniah could find no trace of
either the brother or his sister.

Charlottes mother was Charlotte Forward, daughter of Wm. Forward,
b.5-9-1735 at St. Georges, the mo. Margt - London, England;
Grand-daughter of George Forward. Charlotte Forward and Zephaniah
Carroll were married and had Mary Jane, William and Charlotte; then
adopted Zephaniah, the son of Charlotte's sister Jane. Her father
Zephaniah had died at an early age of 37 years when Charlotte was 4 years
old. Her mother remarried and died at the birth of a son in 1851 at 30
years of age. Charlotte was taken in by an ederly couple who were very
strict with her. They thought her rebellious and returned her to court
to find other foster parents. Alonzo was in town on buisness and having
a few hours to spend - went into the court. He heard the case and told
the judge he would take her to his parents as he was going west in a few
days and they needed her. He returned in May, 1864. He immediately
wrote Charlotte asking her to come home, as she was visiting her sister
in Kalamazoo. She apparently did so as they were married the following
July. Charlotte was small, witty and courageous with black hair and blue
eyes.

The sister, Mary Jane Fancher, in Kalamazoo wrote Charlotte in Sep. ,1864
telling of the losing of her babies, the girl in July and the boy in
August. However, she ended her letter by saying, "Tell Mr. Still, I
think he must have had considerable experience in courtship to have
things around in such a hurry. Tell him I wish him much joy and within
a year a red - headed boy". Parents: Zephaniah CARROLL and Charlotte FORWARD.

went to live with a family friend Mr. and Mrs. Safford.
