He ended military service on 26 October 1863 at Petersburg, Virginia, by special order #479 for hardship.

He was a road builder. He helped cut the first road through the Murphy District of Ritchie County, Virginia. He and his crew camped out because the area had few residents. His 12 year old sister, Joanna Goff Springston, cooked for the crew. In 1832.
He married Eva Goff, daughter of Hiram Goff and Margaret Rush, in January 1836 at Lewis County, Virginia; Abraham and Eva were cousins.
He and Eva Goff began married life on old Springston homestead, Lewis County, Virginia, between 1836 and 1843.
He and Eva Goff had 10 children.
He and Eva Goff lived between 1843 and 1852 at Jackson County, Virginia.
He married Jane Ann Wilson on 24 October 1852 at Lewis County, Virginia.

She was the daughter of Jacob Springston Jr. and Luda Goff.
She married John Hall, son of John Hall and Margaret Snider, on 4 February 1838 at Lewis County, Virginia.
She and John Hall had 9 children.
She and John Hall built a homestead in 1868 on Horn Creek which burned in 1971. It was occupied at the time by a great-granddaughter, Julia Hall Gordon and and her husband,Bertie Gordon.
She died in 1897 at Gilmer County, West Virginia.
She died on 26 June 1897 at Gilmer County, West Virginia, at age 83.
She was buried at Hall Family Cemetery, on Ritchie County line, Gilmer County, West Virginia.

James Carrico Springston was born on 13 March 1816 at Randolph County, Virginia.
He was the son of Jacob Springston Jr. and Luda Goff.
He was the first school teacher in the Center District of Calhoun County in 1835 at Virginia.
He was also a farmer, served four years as school commisioner, four years as trustee, and was a road surveyor for six years.
He setttled in 1843 at Jackson County, Virginia.
He lived in 1860 at with his brother William, Roane County, Virginia.
He married Mary Jane Hanger, daughter of George Hanger and Ruth Duncan, on 1 April 1868 at Calhoun County, West Virginia, when he was 52 years old.
He and Mary Jane Hanger had no children.
He helped raise his wife's children by a prior marriage.
He died on 16 March 1887 at Roane County, West Virginia, at age 71.

Joseph Yeager Springston (M) b. 26 Nov 1817, d. 05 Oct 1853 Pedigree
Joseph Yeager Springston was born on 26 November 1817 at Randolph County, Virginia.
He was the son of Jacob Springston Jr. and Luda Goff.
He helped construct a 6 mile stretch of road which is now Route 47 from Horn Creek to Tanner Creek.
He died on 5 October 1853 at Jackson County, Virginia, at age 35.

William Springston (M) b. 20 Mar 1822, d. 08 Apr 1889 Pedigree
William Springston was born on 20 March 1822 at Randolph County, Virginia.
He was the son of Jacob Springston Jr. and Luda Goff.
He was a farmer, was a member of the Roane County Board of Education for two years and spent 10 years as a school trustee.
He married Susan Bush, daughter of Henry Bush and Margaret Snider, on 3 June 1847 at Leading Creek, Gilmer County, Virginia.
He and Susan Bush had 10 children.
He died on 8 April 1889 at Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia, at age 67.
He was buried at the Springston Cemetery, Triplett Road, Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.

George Gray Springston was born on 16 April 1825 at Lewis County, Virginia.
He was the son of Jacob Springston Jr. and Luda Goff.
He was a farmer.
He married Mary Elizabeth Daniels on 1 April 1855 at Jackson County, Virginia.
He and Mary Elizabeth Daniels had 5 children.
He died on 29 June 1887 at Roane County, West Virginia, at age 62.
He was buried at the Springston Cemetery on Triplett Road, Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.
