"THE LORD'S PRAYER"

In Baptism we are reborn as adopted children of God. We receive the Sprit of Christ and address God "Abba! Father!" as Jesus did. When his disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, he responded, saying, "Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven" (MATTHEW 6:9). We call the prayer Jesus gave us the Our Father, or the Lord's Prayer.

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.
