The three days of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the celebration of theEaster Vigil, are called the Easter Triduum. The word triduum means "three days." These days are the most important days of the Church's liturgical year. We celebrate and remember the Paschal mystery--the passion, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. We celebrate our own dying and rising to new life in Baptism.
Holy Thursday To celebrate the Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper.
Good Friday To gather for the Celebration of the Lord's Passion.
Holy Saturday We gather for the celebration of the Easter Vigil.
Easter Season We rejoice in Christ's resurrection and in the hope of our own resurrection.
Christmas remembers and celebrates the birth of Jesus, the Word make flesh for the salvation of the whole world, Jews and Gentiles. The Christmas season lasts for three weeks, until the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the celebration of the beginning of Jesus' ministry, or work, among people.
