Welcome
My Britt, Futrell,Odom lines are on this page.
My grandparents were the light of my life and the joy of my heart when I was growing up, most especially my grandfather, as my grandmother Britt died when I was 8 years old.
Many evenings I sat on his porch swing with him as he smoked his pipe and I ate the bicuits he made,I have never had any so good since. We would watch the sun go down and he would tell me about so many things, his youth, his family and friends and his adventures in life. When it was cold we sat by his fireplace and we talked for hours. I never heard him say an unkind word against anyone ever and never heard him complain about the sadness that he often times had.
I have missed him everyday of my life since I lost him over 30 years ago.
Grover Cleveland Britt was one of the great men ,not because of wealth or fame, but because he was honest and generous and kind of heart.
I love you grandpa.
GROVER CLEVELAND BRITT AND EVA BELLE THOMAS BRITT
My beloved grandparents
BRITT
This Britt line probably in Va, and later moved into N.C. around the Revolutionary War period. The history of this line was sent to my grandfather by his uncle,Gray Britt, who had some of the family records of the grandparents in Ga. The information was sent to him in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I have no idea what happened to the originals but I hope that someone has them and kept them safe. Grandpa was a genealogist before most had even heard of it.
There has been recent discoveries on this line..some of which was in a box of old will copies and many Britt , and other related papers that I discovered at my mother's home. They had been sent to her by a distant cousin in Oklahoma..she is long since deceased and had very meticulous records. These records prove that some of what was believed earlier and passed down to later generations was in some cases in error.
These records concern the earlier Britt lines in this country.
To put it briefly, until I can get this tremendous amount of info read and completely sorted , I will only put the names of some earlier generations proven by these wills and documents.
I already had much info on later generations but now have much much more
