Adam Ray Son Of Rueben Jr and Olivia This is the oldest picture that I have of any of the Ray's(probably the oldest that I have of anyone) Adam was born in 1833 or 1834 and this picture is of him as a young man. The picture is developed on glass and in a very ornate brass frame. The picture of him was given to me by his daughter-in law many years ago and the glass was broken so I used an imaging program to repair the cracks somewhat and believe me it does look much better.This picture was what is known as an "ambrotype" and they were made between 1854 until the end of the Civil War. This page is the result of my wish to do a page dedicated to our Irish hertiage and since my children get alot of Irish from all sides I thought that I would put some of their ancestors on their father's side on here. The Ray side was chosen for this page for no particular reason it just worked out that way. First a little background on this branch of the Ray family Rueben Ray was in St.Landry Parish La. as early as 1810 and he was married to Ann(Anna)Perkins about 1803 and in documents recorded later the names of their children are stated. About 1820 Census, she and the children had a seperate household..the reasons for this are too long to put here but there is a court document concerning this. Later Anna and the children came to Rapides Parish La.,the children were grown by now and some were married. Joseph Ray and Martha Slaughter Ray Joseph was the son of Rueben Ray Jr. and Olivia and a brother to Adam Ray This picture sent to me by Janet G. ,he was her ancestor.Thanks Janet!! Martha Willis Ray Martha was the wife of Adam Ray and Lucinda was their daughter Rueben Ray This is the son of Adam and Martha Ray There were Ruebens in each generation. I know of 5 at this time. Adam and Martha had several other children,one of them was John: John Ray~~~2nd marriage Oct 16,1907~~Minerva Fee Born April 15,1870~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Born Nov.2,1891 Died Jan. 29,1934~~~~~~~~~~~~Died Sept.11,1987 *see note at bottom of page about 1st marriage John and Minerva had 6 living children one of them was Minerva Jr. John Ray -- Minerva Fee Minerva Jr. and John(private) had a son John Jr. and John Jr. and I married and had our family Adam Ray and Family This is from a tin type...my guess made about 1900-1905..I don't know all of these but will give ones I do know and probables for others. Lft. to rght front row..Lucinda Ray West and son probably Louis, other women(in no order) include Hulda Ray married John Sanderson,Sara Jane wife of William, and others I am not sure of. Lucinda was born about 1822 died after 1860.They had several children also *2nd marriage of Adam was to Mary L.? born Jan.22,1857 died Oct.27,1901 *1st marriage of John Ray was to Stella Perkins and they had several children and were divorced.
