Charisma Carpenter was born and raised in Las Vegas. When she was 15, her family moved to San Diego so that she could attend the School of the Creative and Performing Arts. She was interested in ballet and had no intentions of being an actress. After graduating, she travelled to Europe.
She returned to San Diego where she held many jobs to put herself through college. Her jobs consisted of teaching aerobics, working in a video store and as a waitress. It is as a waitress when she was discovered by an agent.
Charisma's careers in acting started with "Secret Anti-Perspirant" commercials. Her first big television break was on "Baywatch", where she played Hobie's love interest. Soon after, she landed a role in "Malibu Shores", a short-lived drama produced by Aaron Spelling.
Charisma plays the part of Cordelia, an ambitious and bright, but material and beauty-oriented person. She was a main character on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" for the first three season. She left the show on the fourth season to join the spin-off "Angel", next to David Boreanaz.
