JAPANESE BASEBALL Baseball in Japan is almost as popular as Sumo. Two of my host families (the Isekis and Tanakas) would watch every night. I was fortunate enough to go to six or so game. One of the games I went to was the opening day game for the Yokohama Baystars in 1998. The pitcher gave up a hit to the very first batter and then had a perfect game after that. The Baystars went on to win the Japan Series in the fall. There are two divisions with six teams apiece. Most of the teams are located in the Kanto and the Kansai area. I have listed all of the teams on this page, and have tried to find all of their official websites. |
