Notes
Married Ruth Stevens who also worked at the New Haven Savings Bank
fairly late in life and did not have any children. Ken was an avid
bowler and member of the Branford Yacht Club where he kept a nice
sailboat for many years. He was a nice guy, never too sure of himself
with a kind of nervous laugh, but very thoughtful of others. As a
batchelor uncle he gave me great Christmas presents each year and
always took good care of his father at the North Main Street house,
fixing things and helping get ready for the changes in seasons. He was
an officer in charge of mortages at the bank and lived on Glendale
Street in Hamden then later on, at Elim Park Place in Cheshire. He
ended life after having had a pacemaker for quite some time and
predeceased Ruth who was devoted to him.

INDEX
Notes
His mother died when he was very young and he was raised by his
grandmother.
Moved with his wife from Mass. to northern Vermont in 1788. Their
son,
Samuel was the first white child to be born in Johnson, Vermont.
Supposedly served in Col. Seth Warner's Vermont Regiment 1776-1779
(unconfinmed; note that he was born on 6 May, 1765)
Aaron Smith's name appears in the first U.S. census taken in 1790. He
and his wife and two male children were listed among the very few
families living in Johnson at that time. (Note, however, that their
second
son, Abijah, is shown as not having been born until early 1791.)
