There are many things you can actually KNOW for a certainty about the things of God. Let's take a look at some of them. You will see how exciting getting into the Word of God can be. The word KNOW means to have something clearly and securely in the mind, memory or understanding. SO CAN YOU KNOW THE REDEEMER LIVES AND THAT HE SHALL STAND IN THE LAST DAYS ON THE EARTH One of the most astounding passages of Scripture is Job l9:25-27 - 'For I KNOW that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.' The Book of Job is most likely one of the earliest writings of Scripture. Can you imagine this old Saint of God, way back in ancient history, writhing in pain from his sores and not having the hindsight of the Cross of Calvary, declaring, 'I KNOW my Redeemer lives and that He will stand on the earth in the last days and I will see Him for myself with my own eyes?' His conviction of KNOWING that he had a Living Redeemer and that he would see HIM in Person in the Last Days, is confirmed by John the Apostle in the Book of Revelation, which was written around 90 A.D. John writes in Revelation 22:4 that the Servants of God shall see the Redeemer's face. It is also interesting to note that Job's desire, 'that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!', expressed in Job l9:23, has been fulfilled. If Job, way back in ancient history, could KNOW he had a Living Redeemer that he would see some day, how much more you can KNOW it, with all the Scripture available to you today, including Job's Book. If Paul could KNOW Christ, others can, too. Paul's secret to KNOWING Christ is revealed in Philippians 1:21 where he says 'For to me to live is Christ.' What love he had for his Savior! Do you have that kind of commitment, is your whole life centered around Christ? Paul says in 1 Timothy 1:12 that not only did he KNOW Whom he believed, but was also convinced that Christ would hold it all together for him until the Last Day. (Sound like Job of Old?) Paul holds out this same confidence for others in Philippians l:6 ---- 'Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:' ---- Has Christ begun a good work in you? When you get discouraged, remember, Christ is holding it all together for you, too. How long will He do that? Until the Last Day. CHRIST APPEARED ON EARTH TO TAKE AWAY YOUR SIN You come to KNOW the love of Christ when He lives in your heart by faith. Who says 'Christ in your heart' isn't Scriptural? It is right there in verse l7!!!! Also take a look at Revelation 3:20 ----'Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.' --- Come in where? In your life, your heart, your spirit and your soul. Can you imagine such intimacy, spiritually supping and fellowshipping with the Creator and Savior of the world? If that isn't love, what is? That is how you can become rooted and grounded in Christ's love and that is how you can come to understand how encompassing His love is. Another way of checking yourself out is found in Ephesians 5:17. It encourages believers to understand what the will of the Lord is, or in other words, what His commandments are. If you want to understand, you have to apply yourself, that means reading and studying God's Word. God's Word is a storehouse of spiritual treasure, everything you need to KNOW is in there. What about the calling? Here are two verses that may help you get a proper perspective on it. 2 Timothy 1:9 - 'Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,' ---- Titus 3:5 also makes it clear that salvation is according to God's mercy, not according to anyone's good works. John 14:6 is a reminder that Jesus said no one comes to the Father but through Him. 2 Peter 1:10 - 'Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, (verses 5-7) ye shall never fall:' (Verses 5-7 - 'And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.') When called by God, you have a responsibility to live up to your calling. How? By exercising diligence, faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and love in your life, and if you do, it is a sure sign that you love God and are called according to His purpose.
