James Lee Cason Ph.D. was born on 22 February 1922 at Shongaloo, Webster Parish, Louisiana.
He was known as "Jim" to his friends and family.
He was the son of James Kyle Cason and Amy Lee.
He served at the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, in a weather forecasting unit of the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He received a Bachelors of Science Degree from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, Ruston, Louisiana, in 1948.
He earned a Masters Degree from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, in 1950.
Between 1950 and 1953, James Lee Cason Ph.D. taught and did research at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
He received a PhD in Animal Nuitrition from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1956.
Between 1956 and 1959, James Lee Cason Ph.D. was teaching and doing research at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey.
He was employed by the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, between 1959 and 1970 in the Dairy Science Department. He helped Maryland dairymen improve their herds and facilities. For a while, he hosted a radio show about Dairy Science. He attended the county and State Fairs as a judge of dairy cattle.
He retired in 1992 from Northeastern Louisiana University, Monroe, Louisiana, where he worked for twentytwo years. During part of this time, he was the Head of Department for the Agriculture Department.
He died on 11 December 1994 at Homer, Louisiana, at age 72.
He was buried in 1994 at New Ramah Cemetery, Millerton, Webster Parish, Louisiana.

He was rumored to have died in an automobile accident after 1937 and was buried near Alice, Texas.
He died after 1937 and was last seen in Texas. He was declared dead 40 years later.

Littleton Meeks was born on 8 February 1766 on Allen's Creek, Hanover County, Virginia. Allen's Creek flows into the South Anna River, which flows into the Pamunkey River.
He was the son of William Meeks.
He was with the troops when Cornwallis surrendered in October 1781 at Yorktown, Virginia.
He and his brothers Nacy, Jesse and Athe were granted land between 1780 and 1789 at South Carolina.
He married Elizabeth Ivey at Pendleton County, South Carolina. They may have married in Virginia.

He and Elizabeth Ivey, of Surry County, North Carolina, along with John Meeks, perhaps an uncle, with his wife Elizabeth, and Martin Meeks with his wife Margaret were involved in land transactions between 1783 and 1788 on Allen's Creek, Hanover County, Virginia.
He was baptized circa 1785 at the Dan River, North Carolina, by Moses Saunders, Baptist Minister.
He sold his land to Fred Bartlett in 1788 on Allen's Creek, Hanover County, Virginia.
He appeared on the census of 1790 at Nintey Sixth District, Pendleton County, South Carolina, with two children under 15.
He paid John Hardin 20 pounds for 120 acres, part of 415 acres, including the plantation where Littleton lived on 16 July 1795 at the Little Beaverdam and branches of the Coneross River, Oconee County, South Carolina.
He appeared on the census of 1800 at South Carolina.
He was ordained by the Sarepta Association of the Baptist Church in May 1800 at South Carolina.
He moved in 1802 to Franklin County, South Carolina, and settled on land overlooking the Grove River, about 4.5 miles from Homer, South Carolina. A Meeks family graveyard is located there.
He witnessed sold land by Nacy Meeks in 1802 at Pendleton County, South Carolina.
He was a founder of the Grove Level Baptist Church, Franklin County, South Carolina, on May 1802.
After 13 September 1802, Littleton Meeks preached at the Line Baptist Church (founded September 13, 1802 by Moses Saunders) in Franklin County. The "Line" was the line that separated the settlers from native-American lands. Preachers had to be back across the line before dark or they may have been killed.
He preached the last sermon before the Cherokee left on the "Trail of Tears" in the Tinswattse Mission Church, circa 1830.
He died on 22 September 1852 near Homer, Franklin County, Georgia, at age 86. He died at the home of his son, Nacy, in Franklin County. Homer is now in Banks County.

He was a Quality Inspection Specialist between 1945 and 1978 at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant.
He died in 1981 at Minden, Louisiana.
