I surfed around for news, but did`nt find much. So if you remember anything
concerning Joaquin from the last month, please tell me! You would help me a lot. If he was
in a magazine, or if he was at a premiere, or .... Friday,
May 28 1999
I am back!!!!!!!! Our internet-connection broke for .. well .. a month. Can you
imagine that - a MONTH!!!! Horrible! But now I am back again! I really missed the page.
And you probably missed the updating! (I hope that doesn`t happen again.)
I think I won`t give out a may-poll. There is still the
april-poll up as you can see. But it wont bring much if I am putting a new one up just for
.. let`s see .. 2 days I think. You will understand it. The new one will come in June.
So ... what happened in that month? I will search for all
the facts and you will get it as soon as possible!
Sad news from the Gladiator set: Oliver Reed died .....
The Malta Times newspaper quoted sources close to the
directors of ``The Gladiators'' as saying that the filming of Reed's parts of the film had
been ``pretty much completed'' and they
are expected to be retained in the film.
If you want to read more about it: go there.
Michael Caine joins Geoffrey Rush, Joaquin Phoenix and
Kate Winslet in "QUILLS" for Fox Searchlight about the Marquis de
Sade.
If you have your own page, and you want to link to my site,
you can use my new banner if you want to. You can find the banner (it`s an animated one)
on the links-section.
And now an update I wanted to make an month ago:
You will find Joaquin in the british magazine
"SKY" (issue May 99 - I hope you will still get it now!) It`s just a little
feature, but it shows a cute pic of
Joaquin in black&white. And here is the article:
JOAQUIN PHOENIX
Celluloid lady-killer and ex- Liv Tyler squeeze.
For a supercool, semi-arty pose-striker, Joaquin Phoenix is always getting caught with his
hand in the sex till. In grimy new thriller "8mm", he`s a heftily-tattooed porn
shop assistant who gets to guide Nicolas Cage round the naked underbelly of America. In
"To Die For", he fondled weathergirl Nicole Kidman`s warm front. In
"U-Turn", Claire Danes fell for his moody manner. And in "Inventing the
Abbotts", he pushed his luck with Liv Tyler. The 24-year-old doesn`t seem to try that
hard, just sneers a bit and melts `em with a smoking stare. Tyler fell for it to the tune
of three years of off-set afters. Not bad for someone with a silly name. But it could`ve
been worse. His dad was called John Bottom, and his original first name was Leaf
("The name`s Leaf, Leaf Bottom"). After a few changes, he settled on Joaquin
(pronounced "wah-keen"), which sat pretty well with his sisters Summer, Rain and
Liberty, plus late brother River. In fact, Joaquin first really surfaced when his frantic
call to the paramedics about his dying bro` was broadcast over the airwaves. "I`m
thinking he`s taken Valium or something," he told the 911 dispatcher. Joaquin himself
doesn`t fancy being a teenage pin-up: "If I do I`m gonna eat a lot and gain weight.
Then I`m gonny scar my face." Crazy name, crazy guy.
Was it so difficult to find out what his real first name
was??!?!
note: the news-archive is ready now!
