I was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 17 and I am now 26. Although by medical "standards" I have a very mild case, still I struggle everyday in one way or another to deal with the problems caused by SLE. My primary symptoms are dizziness, chest pain, joint pain, numbness in my extremeties, muscle pain, and severe fatigue. I really am not satisfied with the professional care I have received and haven't found a physician whom I feel is well-educated about Systemic Lupus. I have yet to find a doctor who will stop looking at my lab results and just "listen" to me. This is so frustrating! My family is very supportive and I want to thank them all for putting up with me! Yet, I really have no one to talk to about lupus who truly understands what I experience. I've only been on the internet for about a week now and don't know the first thing about it! Yet, I knew I needed a way to get in touch with with others who understand and may have some good advise. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has lupus and would like to write me. I really haven't accepted the fact that I have lupus and don't deal with it very well. I still get depressed a lot, I sleep a lot, and get angry. Thank you, Gayla, for sharing your story, and also to everyone else who has shared their story here. Although I am by far in better health than most of you, I *do* know that I deserve to be treated like I'm human and that all my problems are NOT just in my head!
