WELCOME TO MY DAY..
IT IS NICE TO HAVE YOU SHARE IT WITH ME...
Well, folks, as old friend John Green, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, informed me on November 30th:
IN fact, I wondered about continuing to keep this page operating, since I seemed to be doing the same kind of thing every day, these days, and none of it kind of world-shattering !
The changeover from strip-shopping to mall has been the exhausting part of my life...we were offered a brand-new, fully completed shop in a different area, which would have entailed, not only a total shifting of stock and operations, but a relicencing and loss of the close-to-the-new-Medical Center site we had fought for, and moved into, in 1994!
And then , we had to live through the syndrome of having each wing of the shop Boarded up, in turn, while they rebuild each facade, which meant constant moving and rearranging of affected areas, and a lot of disgruntled customers, and a lot of DARK days with only artificial light. And even after the hoardings were taken down, revealing smart new glassfronts, the High Street end, that nearest the Medical Centre, remained firmly closed off while new walkways and verandahs were built and painted...
But at last, December 7th., Pearl Harbour Day and my late mother's birthday, we moved into the new shop and were allowed to open the High street entrance and I could restore the rest of the floorspace to more or less normal arrangement.
Ahhh..space, you never felt so good!!!
Your diary is behind!"
Hey, John, I Knoooooooooow!!.....
So the supermarket owner, our new landlord, agreed to let us remain where we were, and to build the mall around us, and us into the mall, as he expanded his own premises. In fact, for some months the customers were using our pharmacy as a walk-through to the other shops. Believe me, we saw lots of strange faces that way!
And I am deliberately NOT telling you the WHOLE of the story...
I mean, after I had moved it all, husband advised me the roof was still leaking and that we had to move everything every night to avoid getting the stock wet....
AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Of course, we have no shelves and no flooring in the new shop, and the grand opening is not till February..but hey, who's counting???
On the home front, son number two, in Abu Dhabi, in the desert, is buying a boat....
The wedding was a real country nuptials, solemnised at one of the oldest churches in Australia:
And the reception was held at Barwon Park, the old homestead from which rabbits were introduced to Australia:
I think we ate in what must have been an old unsaddling area, but it decorated up rather nicely..
Our staff were out in full force, of course, with new senior staffer, Natalie, showing her..er..new University degree..
While some of our other staff ladies, old enough to know better, let more than their hair down...
And I? Well, I wore what I had worn for the weddings of my two sons, one in Melbourne, 1998, and one in England, 1998....but hey..if you're onto a good thing, and can still fit into it, ...stick to it, hey??
Love to everyone ,and everyone on our side!
