Lando Calrissian, soldier-of-fortune and master gambler, turned "respectable" after winning stewardship of Bespin's Cloud City and its Tibanna-gas mining operation in a game of sabacc. But when Imperial forces under the command of Lord Darth Vader arrived at Cloud City, Lando was "persuaded" to help them. The Dark Lord made an offer Lando could not refuse - a deal to keep the Empire out of Bespin system forever. All Lando had to do was betray his old friend, associate, and sometime-rival Han Solo. But when he discovered that Vader was changing the terms to suit his own purposes and that his beloved city was about to become an armed camp, Lando decided to help Han. He ordered the evacuation of Cloud City, but was too late to rescue Han Solo from the bounty hunter Boba Fett. Instead, he helped Leia and Chewbacca escape in the Falcon, and even managed to help save Luke Skywalker from the very bottom of the floating city.
Lando Calrissian
The stripped-down skeletal droid LE-BO2D9 is the property of Dash Rendar and works in the Outrider. He answers to "Leebo", and, due to have been programmed by a comedian, he thinks he is funny. Leebo is usually seen with a leather tool bag draped across his skeletal form. Since he has seen some rough action in space, the droid's form is composed of new parts and older, dented metal parts.

Leia Organa, Princess from the planet Alderaan, became involved with the Rebel Alliance and soon was one of its most popular and influential leaders. At her father's insistence, Leia was heading for Tatooine to find Obi-Wan Kenobi and recruit him for the Rebellion. On the way, she received plans for the Death Star battle station, which had been stolen by Rebel spies. But her consular ship was intercepted by an Imperial Star Destroyer under the command of Darth Vader. She barely had time to hide the plans in the memory banks of an astromech droid and order it to find Obi-Wan Kenobi before she was captured. She was taken to the Death Star, where she underwent a terrible interrogation and was forced to watch the destruction of Alderaan. Luke Skywalker and Han Solo rescued her from the battle station, and together, along with the stolen plans, they were able to destroy the Death Star. With Alderaan gone, Luke, Han and Chewbacca became Leia's new family, and she threw herself into her work with the Alliance.
Princess Leia
The lightsaber is the elegant weapon of the Jedi Knights. These power swords project blades of pure energy capable of cutting through most materials - except the blade of another lightsaber. The design seems simple from the outside: a handgrip with several switches ends in a mirror-like, concave metal disk. Inside the handgrip, power cells and variously shaped crystals are activated to produce the narrow beam of meter-long light that gives the lightsaber its name. Considered archaic when compared to blasters and other modern weapons, lightsabers are nonetheless impressive and powerful personal weapons that require extensive training to use effectively.
Luke Skywalker was an Tatooine farm boy who went on to become a Rebel hero and Jedi Knight apprentice. He was raised by Owen and Beru Lars, his uncle and aunt. During his eighteenth year, as boredom and the need to finally leave the desert planet were suffocating him, he saw signs of a space battle in the skies that would change his life. When his uncle purchased a pair of droids from a group of Jawa merchants, Luke became wrapped up in the smaller droid's quest. For little R2-D2 had come to Tatooine to locate Obi-Wan Kenobi and present him with an important message. That message propelled Luke Skywalker on a journey to rescue Princess Leia and learn the skills of the Jedi Knights. Obi-Wan (or Ben) explained that Luke's father had been a Jedi Knight who had been betrayed and murdered by Kenobi's student, Darth Vader. He gave Luke his father's lightsaber, promising to teach the young man the ways of the Force. Unfortunately, the Empire was meanwhile searching for the pair of droids. Stormtroopers tracked the droids to the Jawas and from them to Owen and Beru Lars, killing them all in their desire to leave no witnesses behind. With the help of Han Solo and Chewbacca the Wookiee, Luke, Ben, and the droids escaped from Tatooine and eventually rescued Princess Leia from the Death Star, though Obi-Wan was killed by Darth Vader during the campaign. But the Force was strong in Luke, and he fired the shot that destroyed the Death Star. Over the next three years, Luke became a prominent member of the Rebel Alliance. While on Hoth, Luke was led by a vision of Obi-Wan Kenobi to the swamp planet Dagobah, where he was to find a Jedi Master named Yoda to complete his training. Luke learned much from the wizened old Yoda, but he cut his training short to help his friends at Cloud City. This was the site of Luke's confrontation with Darth Vader. Vader sliced off Luke's right hand, sending it and his lightsaber heirloom into the bowels of Cloud City. Then Luke lost his innocence, for Vader told him that Kenobi had lied: Vader had not killed Luke's father. He was Luke's father. With the help of Leia and Lando Calrissian, Luke barely escaped with his life.
