UP... UP... AND... AWAY!!!

Way up in the sky, in a beautiful balloon....
On my 34th birthday, May 28th 1997, my husband Pete, surprised me with a hot
air balloon ride over the city of London, Ontario.
We were up for about one hour, and floated
northwest out of the city.
At times we drifted like a cloud barely above the ground,
and at other times we floated to heights that seemed like if
I reached up I could reach the heavens!
We were told that the highest we reached was 5700 feet.
The view was nothing short of spectacular!!!
To the north we could see Lake Huron and to the south
we could see Lake Erie.
It was so peaceful and majestic, an opportunity that I would love
to have a chance to experience once again....
I want to share with you some of the sights and views that we
could see from our "Basket in the Sky".
And awaaaayyyyy we gooooooo!! Yes... I had
white knuckles....
All I could think about was clearing the trees and
apartment buildings!!!
We floated over the golf course.... FORE!!!!
(maybe I should say 'heads up')?!
Looking south... we could see the shoreline of Lake Erie.
For those that are familiar with London, Ont. this
view is looking south down Wonderland Rd. from
the Oakridge neighbourhood. The road running
right to left is Oxford St. Wonderland is way
out in the distance snaking along the Thames River.
Looking out over London from the NW. A good view of the
Thames River here. Notice why they call it
the Forest City????
This was our view 5700 feet off the ground. We even
saw planes take off under us... a totally different
perspective! It's difficult to see here, but the shoreline
of Lake Erie is very clear. This view clearly shows the
city of London, and of St. Thomas too!
Every good thing must come to an end sooner or later.
Not everyones favorite way to land.... but at least it WAS a soft
landing...... Actually they purposely TIP the basket
to get the balloon down to empty of air.....
The champange was next!!!!
